The part of chapter 1 that I am most comfortable with is factoring as the concepts are more direct to work with by simplifying the expressions. Although I find working with radicals to be more complicated and require a lot more steps.
I usually learn new material best when working within groups, because I receive feedback through my mistakes, and I tend to remember better under pressure as I’m not confident with solving the work. Therefore, by working collaboratively, I can also refine my understanding. And if I don’t understand a certain problem, making observations is beneficial to my learning as I follow along to the solving process. This also applies to when I encounter a problem, I utilize the answers key to guide me on the solving process or to compare my work. This helps me clarify and identify my mistakes.
I plan to prepare for the unit test by revising over the questions I struggle on most, and reviewing the previous chapters. In addition to completing all the assigned practiced problems, which I have not yet completed, however I plan to do a day prior the unit test.
This statement, “I persevere with challenging tasks and take ownership of my goals, learning and behavior” applies to me because despite not understanding certain math concepts, I take my responsibility through contributing in group works, booking flex time to practice and asking the teacher for help to advocate for my learning.
