Lately, there have been very stressful moments in my life. I usually manage these stressful moments by going on walks. However, I might not always be able to go on walks, so during those moments I turn to my technology device (that being my phone or iPad). For me, technology is both a cause and a coping mechanism to stress. There have been times where I have had an argument with a family member about using my device which causes stress, but there have also been times where I was stressed since I didn’t have any ideas for an assignment and that’s where my technology device came and helped me brainstorm. Technology has also increased my stress level this year, and this is mostly from the procrastinating I do when I am with my device. I am often saying things like “I will do it later” or “just one more video” but that later and video ends up turning into an hour of procrastinating. Even so, I can also use technology to support my wellbeing. I can do this by starting to manage my time more wisely. for example, instead of watching videos for hours straight, I can watch for a specific time and do my assignments.
Core Competency Reflection
- I find it easy to be part of a group.
I find it easy to be a part of a group because this way I can improve my communication skills. Being in a group also means more ideas and the ideas you have the more solutions you will also have.
2. I am kind to others, and support others when they need it.
I try best to help others when needed and encourage them as much as possible. This might mean explaining something because they didn’t understand the first time or telling them they did good and improved.
3. I can identify how my actions affect the community or environment and I can make positive change.
There have been times where I have interrupted a lesson or have said an insult to someone even though I didn’t mean it, but any time it has happened I remember that it is not kind and I have made sure to apologize to them. I have also accidently littered and anytime I notice it I make sure to pick up after myself.
