Persuasion and Advertisement Unit Reflection

· Why is it important to remember who benefits from the advertisement when you view an advertisement?

It is important to remember who benefits from an ad you view because it helps you see the advertiser’s goals. Knowing who gains from the ad also allows you to think critically about the message and decide if you trust the information or if it is just trying to sell you something that you might not need.

· Choose one form of persuasion and explain why it is effective in persuading you/an audience: logical, ethical, emotional

I chose emotional persuasion because I think it is the most affective one when trying to gain consumers attention. It connects more with people and is also more appealing. I personally too, feel lured from emotional persuasion more than the other two form of persuasions.

· Choose an advertising technique and explain why it is effective in selling a product

The advertising technique that I chose was glittering generalities. Even though glittering generalities might not give much information, it still connects with emotional persuasion in convincing consumers to buy their products.

Core Competency Reflection

The two Core Competency Prompts that I chose were “This is how I selected images and words to create impact for my planned audience” and “One strategy or activity that stimulated my imagination on this project was…” “This is how I selected images and words to create impact for my planned audience” I selected my images, words and techniques based on what my advertisement was for and what attracted to me more. By doing this I could relate to my target audience and judge how effective my advertisement is and if I personally would buy the product. “One strategy or activity that stimulated my imagination on this project was…” There were a few ways that helped me become more motived to make my advertisement more creative. One of those ways was searching up different advertisements. By searching up different advertisements it became easier for me to brainstorm different ways to make my advertisement more unique and appealing to my audience.
