Digital Footprint

Living in the world 2024, most of the activities people do at school, at home and anywhere else are digital. Because of this many volunteers and teachers have started to teach others about the internet and digital footprint. Many of us know this but don’t think too deeply about digital footprint even after we learn about it. This paragraph will be reviewing the pros and cons of digital footprint and technology use, and how we as students and adults can use technology in a more safe and positive way.

The Impacts of Digital footprint

Digital footprint is a trail that your actions online leave behind. Which means it is very important to be careful of what you do online. It The likes, comments, posts, all stack up into evidence of who someone is. As those posts become public, likes and comments are seen, more than one person can start to tell who you are like in person. This includes many people starting from random strangers to someone you want to work for. They may look at your digital footprint to tell what kind of person you are. If what they see is positive then great, the person will how more trust in you and abilities as a person, however one negative comment or post can make them unsure of you.

Positives on Digital footprint and technology

There are many positives in technology and social media than just negatives. Technology can be used to learn and explore new subjects that had been unseen. Social media for the workers trying to hire you is very useful for them because they can quickly see what the other person is like and in their opinion, it would be a great saving of time. Many companies and businesses can advertise more easily, and cops can tell more easily if someone is doing something illegal or not just by looking into their digital footprint.

Negatives on Digital footprint and technology

One of the main concerns is how many people are addicted to social media, rather than using technology for help using it for their wants. Gaming, scrolling, watching videos all make the person use technology and less focused on other subjects, like school, sports, and socializing. It has also been proven that technology makes the person more aggressive, losing themselves easier than usual. Also making the person’s attention span shrink.

What to change?

Now we know what the problem is so it’s important to change. The problem and obstacle in this situation would be our digital footprint turning out to be negative. So, it’s good to think about how to keep my info positive. Some ways we can keep a positive way is thinking before posting or commenting on anything. Always remember that once something is posted or commented on it’s impossible to get it back, and that it will impact your future someday either in a positive or negative way. It’s important to avoid negatives but it’s also good to look at more positive content and post something that is more helpful or kind.

Personal/Social Competency Reflection

I make digital ethical choices such as considering what i comment on others’ posts, thinking about what I’m posting before actually post it in order to prevent negative impacts. Helping my future and my digital footprint for tomorrow.

Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced online presence include having a time limit on how much time i spend on my phone. I keep an app that tells me how much time i had already spent, specifying on each app, and stops my apps from working after 3 hours. Also, my parents stop me from using my phone on weekdays.

I think my experiences as a digital citizen, such as how i barely have any experience with social media my choice of using less of my phone helped me to get more hobbies like reading, journaling and boxing. Doing those hobbies and studying instead of using my phone.
