Meal Plan Assignment -Gurjeevan Kaur
Problem
This family is having trouble deciding who and what should cook for dinner throughout the week that doesn’t conflict with their schedules.
Solution
Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | |
Meal | Beef and Spinach lasagna | Vegetable pad Thai | Black beans taco | Chickpea cauliflower curry | Spaghetti and meatballs |
Family member | Parent A | Teen 1 | Teen 2 | Parent B | Parent B |
Time | 6:30pm | 7:00pm | 6:30pm | 6:15pm | 7:30pm |
Portion | ½ Portion | 1 Portion | 2 Portions | ½ Portion | 1 Portion |
Justification
-We made it, so dinner was between 6-8 each night because that is the time that clashes with the family’s schedules the least.
-Every family member cooks at least once a week, so cooking is distributed fairly
-Parent B cooks twice a week because they have the lease busy schedule
-Monday will work because parent A gets home at 4:30 on Mondays which leaves time to cook the beef and spinach lasagna (which takes 80 minutes to cook) by 6:30, when everyone will be home.
– Tuesday works because teen 1 gets off school at 3:30, which gives them enough time to Vegetable pad Thai. The meal will be ready for 7:00pm which is suitable for ever one’s schedule because teen 2 leaves for soccer practice at 6:30. Even if teen 2 is late vegetable Thai is still good cold and can be warmed.
-Wednesday will work because it is the easiest meal-so teen 2 can cook it-and a double portion is perfect so that way everyone can have extra on that night
-Thursday will work because parent B will be cooking chickpea cauliflower curry, they get off work at 5:30 and the food will be made by 6:15. They will be enough time for them to make the meal and for everyone to get home. One portion is the perfect amount for this meal.
– Friday will work because it leaves a little time for parent B to relax before cooking and it will be everyone (other than teen 1) to be at home before they eat. We still left the portion at 4 servings so that it could be eaten by one of the family members the next day.

Collaboration Reflection
- Most of our group has been away so we’ve been communicating through messages but also by collaborating in class with those of who are here during the work blocks
- All of these have been covered in ADL or other classes.
- The people in class did most of the project working collaboratively, while the work was distributed fairly to the members that were not present in class.
- Two of the members did 4 out of the 5 days of the meal plan, we also worked together on the brainstorm. The other members did their part at home
- I Helped think of the meal plan and make the layout of solution. I also helped justify Tuesday and Thursday
