During our visit to Rochester Elementary School in the middle of the semester, we had a wonderful opportunity to engage with the children. We spent time reading to them and teaching them how to jump rope. Interacting with kindergarteners required a delicate balance of patience and enthusiasm, as well as calm tone of voice. I adapted my language and gestures accordingly to effectively connect with the children during our visit.

Prompt 2- Strep throat video
For a class project, we had to create an informational video about an infection/disease, and my group picked strep throat. While working on this video, I believe we demonstrated excellent collaboration skills, with everyone contributing equally to get it done. Whenever we faced challenges or got stuck, we all pitched in to support each other. Working on this project was not just about being productive; we also had a lot of fun and shared some good laughs. These experiences helped me realize the difference between simple “group work” and true collaboration.
Prompt 3 – Real Care Baby
Personal Awareness and Responsibility prompt
When I am sad, angry or frustrated, doing… helps me be more productive or calm.
Looking after my real care baby brought out a range of emotions in me: stress, joy, laughter, frustration, and exhaustion. Whenever I felt angry or frustrated, taking a moment to refocus and remember that it’s just an assignment helped me be more productive and calm. I definitely believe that the opportunity to care for the real care baby was valuable, even though it came with a hand full of stress. It taught me a lot, and it’s eye-opening to think about how much mothers manage every single day.
This school year has had its ups and downs. Some things that has gone well for me are, Keeping up with all my assignments, having a reasonably balanced schedule and having my friends in my classes.
Areas To Improve
G O A L S — A C T I O N P L A N
Time Management – Make sure I’m not studying for tests the day before or at the last minute.
Asking for help when needed – I’m going to try my best the following year to seek my teacher for assistance whenever I need it.
I appreciate feedback on my work during and after I have handed in assignments. Feedback helps me to develop and receive a higher grade the next time. When I don’t perform my best on a project, I often find it difficult to accept critique, but in the end, it improves my work moving forward. Feedback also boosts motivation and confidence because it lets you know when you’re on the right track
I’ve learned this unit that nutrition and a healthy lifestyle is really important to your physical and even metal health. Everyone has different diets, some really healthy and some not as much. Even just thinking about diets, one thing I don’t do is eat breakfast. Is it necessarily a good thing? The reason I don’t eat breakfast on school day is because it makes me sick eating so early in the morning, but this unit has taught me that breakfast gives you strength and energy to start your day. Then comes nutrition, its good to have a balanced diet, that makes you feel good and energized throughout the day. Having a well diet is also good for your mental health because knowing that you are not snacking all day can make you feel better.
Core Competency Reflection
I find it easy to be part of a group

I am kind to others, and support others when they need it.

My strengths and abilities while writing and preforming my script where being able to work efficiently with my partner. We had fun as well and got everything done. I pitched in a lot of ideas about planning the skit out and our accent was slightly difficult to learn but I was willing to have fun with it.
What would you improve next time?
During the play I missed 2 lines. my partner improvised and made the play flow. I would make sure I have fully memorized the lines.
Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced online presence include turning off social media when tired or stressed. When feeling like that, scrolling on social media is not the best thing to do so having boundaries or acknowledging when to turn it off are important. Another strategy that helps me is that I like to live in the moment. When I go out and go somewhere pretty and scenic, I like to tag the location of my picture. But instead, I can admire the view without taking a photo and just take it all in.
Some of the ways I work to build and maintain online relationships are I try to stay connected regularly. I have family in England, and I can message them more often to keep in touch and check on each other. Also, I can be more understanding that people reply at various times and may have other things going on. By do not that it can help me stay more connected and pick off where we left for the next time we meet.
My online support network is helpful to me because they do so many things for me/to me, from making me happy and laugh to listening and offering advice. My friends and family are my main network and I know I can trust them and rely on them. They could be close by digitally or in a different country, but I know they will support me, help me, cheer me up if I am feeling down and guide me if I need it.
I Demonstrated this Core Competency by working in a group to brainstorm and write this paragraph. Our group collectively brainstormed the answers to the comprehension. I think we all worked well together. It was the first time I really conversed with those class friends and I enjoyed working with them. We all participated and stayed on task which helped me write the paragraph after. One thing a had a hard time with was how to get my paragraph started, however, once I stated to write, it started to flow together. I would like to get better on witting more paragraphs. I enjoy writing but I don’t always know how to get it started.
