Stress is defined as any change in a person’s environment that might cause physical and mental strain. While stress seems to be harmful, it may also be helpful. Good stress should motivate you to take action. Good stress should not have a long-term negative impact on your physical and mental health. You generate good stress from things like schoolwork, presentations, and public speaking. Debt, relationship problems, and unemployment will all cause bad stress. I usually do healthy activities to deal with and relieve stress. Eat well, exercise often, and get enough sleep. These activities make me feel a lot better and more motivated for the rest of the day.
In this day and age, technology is an important part of many people’s life. While technology has many benefits, it can also cause an influx of stress. Technology is neither a source of my stress nor a coping strategy for me. When I’m stressed, it’s usually because of school. A large amount of homework or a presentation will stress me out. When I am stressed, I become worried, which is a good thing because it encourages me to complete the task or prepare so that I am ready. When I am stressed, I may turn to technology and watch a video to relax and just release my stress. Yet, this is not a coping method; rather, it is a temporary distraction. After I’m finished, I’ll go back to work and most likely become anxious again. While I can temporarily relieve my stress by practicing good health, the only way to totally relieve my stress is to complete the tasks at hand.
Technology has had a negative impact on my stress levels. When I’m on a computer or device, I may quickly become distracted by all of the entertainment available online. As a result, I am not focused on my work, and this slowly but surely consumes my time. As time passes, I have less and less time to focus on schoolwork, and if an assignment is due the next day, I become anxious. To combat this, I’ll listen to music, which doesn’t need me to look at the computer and allows me to continue working.
Core Competency Reflection
I find it easy to be part of a group:
It is easy to be part of a group. While I am naturally introverted, I will push myself to communicate with and collaborate positively with everyone around me. Everyone may benefit from the thoughts of others when more than one person is working on the same project. Furthermore, by working together, we are all able to do our share and decrease the workload in half. Although I prefer to work alone, working in a group may be helpful at times.
I am kind to others and support others when they need it:
When I notice that someone requires assistance, I will do all in my power to help them. I also make an effort to be nice. Being unkind has no benefit, thus you should always be nice to people, whether strangers or friends.
I demonstrate respectful, inclusive behaviour:
In PHE 9, I make an effort to respect everyone and involve those who I notice are not engaging. Respecting others, strangers, friends, instructors, and classmates alike, is the correct thing to do. For example, when the teacher is speaking, I will pay attention and avoid speaking.
