Life Saving Measures

Before you start CPR, you should check an unconscious person by touching his/her shoulders, and talk to them loudly to wake them. If the person is still unconscious, you should immediately start CPR, and call someone to call 911. To increase the saving rate, you need AED. I learned that you need to have confidence while doing CPR. Also, I learned that you don’t need to worry about if you mess up because they will not send you to jail.

I learned that drugs are nasty, addictive, and they have lots of side effects. Also, I learned if you first start having a drug, you can’t stop doing it. Not only drugs, but also vaping/smoking are terrible. In my case, I will never start them because of my dad. He always did a cigarette when I was young, and he changed to vaping in these days. I also realized why I should never do these things, and I promised myself that I would try to stay away from them because I knew they were even more damaging during my school years.

Critical and Reflective Thinking Competency Reflection

I can analyze my own beliefs and consider views that do not fit with them. In the past 17 years of my life, I have always disliked people who smoke cigarettes, vape and do drugs. This belief remains the same and will remain so in the future, so I will never associate with people who do this.

Quadratic Equations in Vertex Form

As you can see in the graph y=x2, the vertex is (0,0). There are no y-intercepts but one x-intercept (0,0). The graph is going up and the axis of symmetry is x=0. In the other graph, y=(x+4)2-2, the vertex is (-4,-2) and the axis of symmetry is x=-4. The graph is going down. In the y=(x+4)2+4 equation, the vertex is (-4,4) and the axis of symmetry is x=-4. In y=(x-4)2, the vertex is (4,0) and the axis of symmetry is x=4. There is a y-intercept (0,16) and x-intercept (4,0). In the last equation y=(x-4)2-3, the vertex is (4,-3) the graph goes down, and the axis of symmetry is x=4. There are no x-intercepts in it.

  1. I represent the same mathematical idea in multiple ways using the vertex, axis of symmetry, x and y intercepts, and determine if graphs go up or down.
  2. Vertex, axis of symmetry, x-intercepts, and y-intercepts. I found those words in class notes the meaning of those words, by my memory.
  3. I tried to make sure my information was as easy as possible. I think the most important way to share information is using simple words and if you can, use simple words. The method that I used is the most comfortable way that I can use. I also added different colours to recognize easily and used small numbers to simplify the equation. Not only equations but also parabolas, I tried to make to avoid overlapping. For these reasons, I made my equations and parabolas as simple as I could.
