Lab 20C: Acid-Base Titration

Titration: It is a chemical experiment in which the concentration of one solution is found by adding a little bit of another solution, finding the point at which the reaction ends, and calculating from that.

Core Competency Reflection: I felt all kinds of joy and sorrow while doing the Lab 20C experiment with my friend Peter Han. I felt the emptiness that comes from making mistakes in the experiment, and the happiness and satisfaction when I found the right value. Through this process, I grew more and was able to prepare perfectly for the remaining journey, especially the journey to finish Chemistry 12. In fact, since I had never done a proper chemistry experiment in Korea, this experience was a new stimulus for me. It was a very impressive experience for me to see the color change to pink when the two solutions were mixed and reached the critical point.

Quadratic Equations in Vertex Form

As you can see in the graph y=x2, the vertex is (0,0). There are no y-intercepts but one x-intercept (0,0). The graph is going up and the axis of symmetry is x=0. In the other graph, y=(x+4)2-2, the vertex is (-4,-2) and the axis of symmetry is x=-4. The graph is going down. In the y=(x+4)2+4 equation, the vertex is (-4,4) and the axis of symmetry is x=-4. In y=(x-4)2, the vertex is (4,0) and the axis of symmetry is x=4. There is a y-intercept (0,16) and x-intercept (4,0). In the last equation y=(x-4)2-3, the vertex is (4,-3) the graph goes down, and the axis of symmetry is x=4. There are no x-intercepts in it.

  1. I represent the same mathematical idea in multiple ways using the vertex, axis of symmetry, x and y intercepts, and determine if graphs go up or down.
  2. Vertex, axis of symmetry, x-intercepts, and y-intercepts. I found those words in class notes the meaning of those words, by my memory.
  3. I tried to make sure my information was as easy as possible. I think the most important way to share information is using simple words and if you can, use simple words. The method that I used is the most comfortable way that I can use. I also added different colours to recognize easily and used small numbers to simplify the equation. Not only equations but also parabolas, I tried to make to avoid overlapping. For these reasons, I made my equations and parabolas as simple as I could.
