Core Competency Self-Assessment: Textile Arts and Crafts
Creative Thinking
My Artifact: spider web shoes
An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is when I choose to embroider and sew on beads to shoes taking inspiration from someone embroidering a spider web with beads. I then thought of putting it on shoes building on there idea by putting it on something else. When it seems the good ideas just won’t come to me, I try to take inspiration from different things to help create space in my mind to be creative. I can persevere over time to develop my ideas, and I expect setbacks and failure, but use that to develop my ideas. if you make a mistake it is a change to create that into something or the mistake makes the project look better. This project has some stitch’s that I didn’t mean to do but turned out fine.
The domain is all the possible X values there can be and the range is all the possible Y values you can have.
My graph is a function and a one to one function because there are no X values that have two Y values and there are Y values that have the same X values.

If there is disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to come to a compromise where both people can agree on what ever it is. If they refuse to come to a agreement you come up with a different solution.
I show that I value feedback from others in my group by listening and trying there ideas or incorporating there ideas into the project.
Goal
An example of an idea I developed that was new to my peers is…
I need to work on sharing my ideas with bigger groups and people I do not know.
Where were you able to assess how underlying conditions and the actions of individuals or groups influence events, decisions, or developments, and analyze multiple consequences? (Social Studies 10)
In my Echo Project I will be exploring the decisions made not only by my Grandfather but others both before and after him and how their decision and actions lead to the AIDS crisis, mitigated the possible effects on British Columbia, and how it has lead us to where we are with HIV/AIDS now.
How have you grown in your leadership skills this term? When and where do you think you have demonstrated leadership the best? (Leadership 11)
I have become more comfortable expressing my opinion in both small groups and with the large group but the place I have demonstrated this best is in my willingness to lead the entire group during hiking/snow shoeing sessions for periods of time.
How have you developed skills in maintaining healthy relationships, promoting physical and mental well-being, and analyzing the risks and effects of social media, substance abuse, stereotyping, and exploitative situations? (PHE 10)
I am much better at recognizing when people truly want to be my friend and when they are just trying to take advantage of my good nature. I have remained off of social media though I do recognized that it has both benefits and dangers. I have also earned more about the dangers of substance abuse, stereo tying, and exploitive situations while also learning why people get themselves into those situations. I have learned about different types of being in shape and being healthy both mental and physical.
Which physical activities did you engage in and enjoy the most this term? (PHE 10)
This term I enjoyed going on the hikes the most. While I found them quite tiring, it was fun to get out in the wilderness with a group of people and challenge ourselves while enjoying nature.
