Curricular Competency Reflection

Where were you able to assess how underlying conditions and the actions of individuals or groups influence events, decisions, or developments, and analyze multiple consequences? (Social Studies 10)

In my Echo Project I will be exploring the decisions made not only by my Grandfather but others both before and after him and how their decision and actions lead to the AIDS crisis, mitigated the possible effects on British Columbia, and how it has lead us to where we are with HIV/AIDS now.

How have you grown in your leadership skills this term? When and where do you think you have demonstrated leadership the best? (Leadership 11)

I have become more comfortable expressing my opinion in both small groups and with the large group but the place I have demonstrated this best is in my willingness to lead the entire group during hiking/snow shoeing sessions for periods of time.

How have you developed skills in maintaining healthy relationships, promoting physical and mental well-being, and analyzing the risks and effects of social media, substance abuse, stereotyping, and exploitative situations? (PHE 10)

I am much better at recognizing when people truly want to be my friend and when they are just trying to take advantage of my good nature. I have remained off of social media though I do recognized that it has both benefits and dangers. I have also earned more about the dangers of substance abuse, stereo tying, and exploitive situations while also learning why people get themselves into those situations. I have learned about different types of being in shape and being healthy both mental and physical.

Which physical activities did you engage in and enjoy the most this term? (PHE 10)

This term I enjoyed going on the hikes the most. While I found them quite tiring, it was fun to get out in the wilderness with a group of people and challenge ourselves while enjoying nature.
