Communication Core Competency + Spanish 9
The “Spanish Speaking Project” me and my partner accomplished showed the development I had in my Communication Core Competency and Spanish Curricular Competency. During the process of my partner and I completing this project I personally developed in my collaboration skills. I constantly valued my partners ideas. I think that collaboration means listening to each other’s thoughts and incorporating them into our work. By seeking out their perspective and valuing their contributions, we are able to create a project that reflects both of our ideas and strengths. As an active listener, I notice that I am able to incorporate both my partners and my ideas while also being mindful of the criteria. This poster project revealed to me that I am able to listen and incorporate ideas from others.
Thinking Core Competency + English 9
This “Novel Study Project” I completed individually, last semester for my English 9 class I was able to demonstrate the Thinking Core Competency. During this assignment, I was able to write several, creative journals revealing that I am capable of using my resources to end up with a good, creative product. In this assignment I was able to show that I can persevere over time to develop my ideas, and I expect setbacks and failure, but use that to develop my ideas. Since we were given a generous amount of time to complete this assignment, I was able to go back to each journal and determined whether or not I had tried my best. I showed my Thinking Core Competency through this assignment by producing creative work to the best of my ability.
Personal/Social Competency + Woodwork 9
This project in Woodwork 9 showed my Personal/Social Competency because I was very proud of myself when I completed this charcuterie board. When I saw the final product I made in Woodwork class, I felt pride and accomplishment. Not only did it show off my skills, but it also highlighted my personal and social competency. I was able to follow instructions, work independently, and collaborate with classmates when needed. The positive feedback from my teacher and classmates also boosted my confidence and made me realize the importance of setting goals and celebrating achievements. This shows how I can show a sense of accomplishment and joy. This project also showcased how I can take pride in my work and myself. The charcuterie board is my favourite project I have done this year because of my ability to feel accomplished.
