Persuasion and Advertisement Techniques
Persuasion and Advertisement Unit Reflection
Why is it important to remember who benefits from the advertisement when you view an advertisement?
-It is important to remember who benefits from an advertisement because if the advertisement ever persuades you, always remember not to give in and analyze who actually benefits from the ad.
Choose one form of persuasion and explain why it is effective in persuading you/an audience: logical, ethical, emotional
-Ethical Persuasion is very effective when persuading. It uses your idols and inspirations for example to persuade you into thinking the advertisement is good and you should invest into it. If i saw someone very famous and a doctor for example advertising that a certain toothpaste brand is healthy and good for you, i will most likely give in to it and invest in the toothpaste.
Choose an advertising technique and explain why it is effective in selling a product.
-Bandwagon is very effective in selling a product. For example if an advertisement was telling me to buy these new shoes, bandwagon will apply if they say something like “Everyone is wearing these shoes right now and so should you”, or “These shoes are being worn by every popular teenager”. Those types of phrases will catch most people and think the product makes them cool etc.
Core Competency Reflection
One of the ways I ensured my group was clear on what we were doing was to brainstorm our ideas first on a different PowerPoint then gathering all our good ideas and pasting it on a good copy.
When there was disagreement within the group, I found it helpful to let everyone share there ideas one at a time and we try to agree on one thing as a group.
I showed that I valued feedback from others in my group by asking them if a did a good job on my part of the advertisement and asking them if i should change anything.
