Career Life Project Presentation

Curricular Reflection

Through this course I have learned a lot about career planning and made many life goals for the future. My strengths were being able to understand the different career paths and to match them with my interests and passions. My interests throughout this course have changed to be more around math and science as careers following that are more interesting to me. The way I have found information throughout this course is by using my blueprint which is a site that has everything to do with planning a career path. After exploring careers for more than half the course, I have settled on an Accountant because I like the environment they work in and the work they perform.

“I can identify my strengths and identify my potential.”

I used this core competency when choosing a career to research. I identified what my strengths were, and I chose a career I had potential in to do well.

” I can form new ideas to create new things. I can also build on the ideas of others.”

I used this core competency when trying to find a career that suit me. I used others career ideas and compared them to myself to narrow down on what I wanted to do.

“I can ask open-ended questions to gather information.”

I used this when asking questions about my budgeting final project. I asked my teacher questions to help me move further along my budgeting project and to help me when I was stuck.

Public Speaking

This semester, i learned a lot about public speaking. I learned that public speaking can be very nerve racking and requires a lot of confidence and practice. A good public speaker should be able to glance at the audience every once in awhile to show that they are speaking word for word and know what they are talking about. I learned that it takes a lot to become a good public speaker because you need to convey information while also engaging with the audience you are presenting to. A good speech should have the audience interested and engage at all times and should be written with facts, proper sentence structure, proper punctuation and with good paragraph and idea structure. To be a good audience/listener you should always be respectful of the speaker and not be distracted.

Collaborating Core Competency Reflection

  • If there is disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to let everyone share their ideas. I would usually let each person explain their idea one at a time and after we discuss and settle down on a idea.
  • When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I try to be friendly and really listen to what they have to say. In a group with no one i know i will try to get to know them and what they might want to agree on for the project and overall make jokes and be kind.
  • I know the group is working well together when I hear/ see my peers complementing each others work or saying what they did looks good.
  • I show others that I truly value their contributions by saying thank you if they fixed my work or if they gave me feedback on something i did wrong.

What is one goal you have for yourself going forward?

– One goal that i have for myself moving forward is getting better at English and overall become a better writer. I can achieve this goal by continuing to pay attention in class and to continue putting extra writing or work into my English work. I am working towards this goal because i was very bad at English in the past and now i really want to be good at it.
