Nutrition Reflection
a. What are two things that surprised you?
The two things that surprised me after doing this assignment were the amount of sugar intake I had every day. Because it did seem like I was consuming a lot of sugar, but I was. Secondly, I would say that I needed to drink more water than what I expected because of all the exercise I was doing daily.
b. What are your strengths?
I would say my strengths were being able to fuel my body for my workouts and being able to have time to rest after workouts. I would also say I was very active throughout the weekdays.
c. What are areas that you can improve upon?
Areas I can improve on are being able to drink closer to 4 liters of water every day to properly hydrate my body, especially when I am heavily active that day. I would also improve my diet by eating more veggies and cutting out my sugar intake.
d. What did you notice when you compared your nutrition weekdays to weekends?
During the weekdays I was eating a lot more calories and eating more greens. During the weekends I was eating more sugar-dense foods and processed foods because I definitely felt more lazy on the weekends than the weekdays.
e. How much sleep do you get? Please differentiate between school nights and weekends. Include any reason why you don’t get much sleep. (ie – addicted to video games, last minute studying etc.)
My sleep during school nights really only changed if I had a practice, which would be pretty late, which would make me go to sleep a little later than normal. I have also lost sleep because I sometimes procrastinate; I do my homework at the last minute, which would affect my sleep. But if I didn’t have practice or did my homework last minute, I would go to sleep around 10:30 and wake up at 7:30. During the weekends I would go to sleep at 12:00 and usually wake up at 8-9.
f. What are your takeaways from this unit? Was there anything you learned that surprised you? Learning about how having a vegan diet can make your body perform better than if you ate an animal-based diet.
– After watching Game Changers – do you think that “plant based” is a viable option for a high level athlete? After watching the game changers, I would say that a plant-based diet is a great option for high- level athletes.
– Something you learned or stuck out that you didn’t know prior? I would say learning about how much a plant-based diet can benefit you.
Core Competency Reflection
- I can develop a body of creative work overtime by using the documentary that we watched in class to use the tips and advice to build good habits.
- I can identify my strengths and identify my potential. I can identify my strengths by reflecting on what I am good at. I would say my strengths are my physical skills, leadership skills, and teamwork. At the same time, I can set goals for my potential strengths I can build.
