Summary
Our game will go over 4 main parts and those are Journey to BNA (British North America), Colonization, Upper and lower Canada, and the revolution. The Journey to BNA was when Britian immigrants from the US and Europe were traveling to BNA (British North America). However, during the trip they faced many problems. The journey across the Atlantic was expensive and dangerous. Will not see those they left behind. Coffin ship: death ship, diseases were common on cargo vessels to carry passengers
Colonization was when Britain immigrants from the US and Europe came to BNA and colonized the country. They took over BNA even though indigenous people were in those lands already. Once they arrived and were settled that’s when Upper and Lower Canada was made as well as Maritimes were formed. All those three things were new colonies. Upper Canada cleared forest to create farms, communities, and roads. Also, they were the newest colony in the 19th century. Also, there was the war of 1812. It ended in 1815 Invasion attempts by the Americans during this war, and again during the American Revolution, served to reinforce Upper Canada colonists’ ties with the British Empire. Life in Upper Canada in 1820 it was noticeably quiet and dark as well Colonists heard only the noises of the weather, the barnyard, and work. To colonists, a watermill or a smithy might seem loud. During the night, candles, oil lamps, and the moon were the only sources of light at that time. People came together and made communities so they can depend on it. Some even went as far as to create schools and hire people to pay for their service and food source. Other than that, people were farmers, but it was hard to make a living from it.
Lower Canada is different. Ruling Canada was English, and the population was French With cultural roots dating back to Champlain, French Canadians never completely adjusted to British rule Due to inflation from French and American revolutions, many French Canadians found British rule without democracy intolerable Chateau clique-controlled government and business supported by church and wealthy French landowners. LC did not experience the same kinds of land problems as the UC as population increased, the amount of suitable land was limited, soil became less fertile, and crops began to fail. LC resorted to import wheat from UC causing a huge economic deficit. Farmers could only grow enough to feed their families. Many turned to forestry; however, profits were not shared among everyone, and seigneurs now wanted forests not farms. Lower Canada also suffered three problems. They are discrimination against the French, lack of representation, and taxes.
Finally, the Revolution/Rebellion. Reformers in the colonies of BNA shared their views on government, exchanging workable solutions. Although some goals differed. To change could not be reformed from within, Mackenzie and Papineau prepared for armed rebellion. Britain did not have enough troops to fight rebellion in both colonies. Papineau and Mackenzie both coordinated their
revolts. Revolution sparked when a group of Patriots refused arrest. A branch group of the Patriots, the Sons of Liberty, joined in and paraded their weapons in the streets of Montreal. A full revolution occurred after the attempted arrest of Papineau, who quickly fled to the US. Battle moved to the countryside. Led by Woldred Nelson, the patriots took Saint-Denis. Soon lost battles in Saint-Charles and Saint-Eustace. By Dec 1837, the rebellion was over in LC. Encouraged by American supports, some Patriots prepared for a 2nd rebellion in 1838
So, you travel through the 4 main parts (Journey to BNA, Colonization, Upper/Lower Canada, and Maritimes, and the Revolution/Rebellion). As settlers trying to reach the end, the settlers finally living the life that they want. Basically, you’re playing as the settler’s and experiencing what happened in those events
How our game relates to colonization
Our Game relates to colonization because we included many questions, trivia and stuff on colonization. The whole point of this game/this game as a whole is based on colonization. We included the travelling/Journey, The Upper Canada/And Lower Canada part, The British North America Part, and The Rebellion on this board game. It really relates to it though because it shows that you are playing the life of the colonizers. The Whole game is based on you playing as the colonizer peoples. You travel throughout all the parts that I said earlier. It really is a fun, and challenging game.

Core Competencies
“I work with others to achieve a goal.”
I showed this Core Competency by working with my classmates on this project. It was fun. I pretty much drew some things on the board, coloured it all in, and at the beginning even tried to help with some ideas on the board game. But my Ideas weren’t the best. I worked with the others to achieve this goal which was the finishing of this board game.
“I take on roles and responsibilities in a group; I do my share.”
I showed this one by doing my own roles and responsibilities in a group such as the colouring, and drawing of some of the pictures on the board game board. It was fun. The colouring took a long time to finish. I think that I did my share.
“I find it easy to be part of a group.”
I showed this one by being in the group. I showed it by being nice and respectful most of the time when I get into groups in projects. It was fun. I really found it easy though because I know that I have my role in the group and that it isn’t really that hard if you just do your job in a group.
