Why do you think japan is so creative with it sandwiches? how do these compare to the sandwiches available in Canada

I think that Japan is so creative with their sandwiches because they have limited types of bread so, they have to get creative to have diversity with their bread. the bread in Japan is used commonly used to make sweets, often using sweet and milk bread for foods more dessert dishes. While the bread in Canada is used more for savoury foods.

What is the most creative meal you have made or had. Would it taste good in sandwich form?

The most creative meal I have had is butter chicken pizza. No i do not think it would taste good in sandwich form.

what sandwich type are you most excited to try?

The sandwich im most excited to try is the fruit sandwich.

if im offered by him, would you eat a part of Anpanman’s head

if I was offered a part of Anpanman’s head i would eat it. I would eat a part because it has restoritive properties and he can alwsys grow it back.

R1 – Valentines day

Japan has a follow-up celebration called White Day on March 14th, where chocolate recipients return the favor by giving chocolates back. How does this relate to Valentine’s Day culture in Canada? What do you usually do for Valentine’s Day?

giving back chocolates relates to valentines day in Canada because many companies make and advertise chocolate special to valentines day, so you can give it to whoever you’re giving it to. These chocolates may come in heart shaped boxes or different wrapping. Something i usually do for valentines day is hang out with friends.

In Japan, the concept of giri-choco reflects social obligations and the importance of maintaining relationships. Do you think this is something we should adopt in Canada? Why? (Did you like exchanging cards in elementary school?)

I think this could be something adopted in Canada but not as important. I think showing that your relationships are important but i think this shouldn’t be necessary to show that. I also did not mind exchanging cards in elementary because it was a fun activity to do at home and you got lots of chocolate.

How do you feel about kouhaku? Would you rather confess/get confessed to or pine for your crush afar?

I’d rather be confessed to than confess myself because there’s something exciting about someone else coming up to you. It would make me feel special, like my feelings are validated, and I could be happy hearing someone express their affection openly. The idea of not having to put myself out there first eases the anxiety, making it feel safer and more meaningful. If the feelings are mutual, it would make the experience even more rewarding.

i advocate for my needs to by asking friends or the teacher for help with the things i need help with. I have also recently got a tutor which has helped me better understand the math concepts and how to do it better.

ME CARD

Core competencies I demonstrated in my ME CARD project

In my ME CARD, I demonstrated positive personal and cultural identity. While making my draft I had to think about my interests, values and things I am good at, it took a lot more thinking than I anticipated but it helped me realize and guide me to a possible career path in the future .

How the project helped me develop specific skills and knowledge related to the core compentencies

This ME CARD project has helped me develop my creative thinking and critical thinking skills by pushing me out my comfort zone to draw things I’m not comfortable drawing and make me think and reflect on my values.

Examples to support my reflection

This reflection and project has helped me get into hobbies I had stopped doing but picked back up due to remembering how much I enjoyed them.

Math Edublog

Communications

During this grade 9 math year, I connected and engaged with others to help me better understand the lesson or chapter. I utilized this during flex where i would meet with friends to help eachother

Positive Personal & Cultural Identity

I used my personal strengths and abilities in this math class to persevere during all the times I pushed myself to study and fully understand the lesson and during test i would problem solve how to do an equation.

Personal Awareness and Responsibility

I used self determination during the month of finals to fully go over every single chapter and review until im content and confident in my ability to do the math.

My First Year

My Grade 9 Year

During my first year at centennial I have done lot of exciting things this year. But the thing that has stood out for me this year would have to be science honors. During these two semester, I have done a lot of exciting lab work with friends and peers. Its been a challenging class but, It has been very rewarding. I’ve also had lots of fun during power tech problem solving during my projects and competing against friends to see who did better in the competition we had.

A Useful Educational Website

https://phet.colorado.edu/

I chose this educational website because it helped me understand the ideas and concepts of the three subjects in science, Physics, chemistry and biology. This has helped me better visualize the affects and changes that happens in interactions and reactions. It has made me look forward to learning using helpful fun science websites.

A Useful Educational Video

We used this educational video in the first semester when starting to learn about biology. I find this video to be a good introduction to mitosis, because it has a easy to follow visual and wording easy to follow for people just learning about mitosis.

A Useful Educational Image

This image helped me in socials when learning about the French Revolution. It helped me understand the estates and how the third estates held all the responsibilities of the two other estates. Like paying for taxes, doing all the farming and being treated poorly despite of what they were doing.

An Inspirational Quote

If you want something done right, do it yourself.

-Charles-Guillaume Étienne

I picked this quote because it stuck out to me and my values. I believe that if you want to do something your way, you have to do it. That is why I prefer to do single work rather than group work, because sometimes I disagree the way the person wants to do it and is very adamant about it.

Rube goldberg lab

Share the experience of critical/reflective thinking for your artifact (Consider strategies you
used to solve a problem, how you analyzed evidence to make decisions or draw conclusions,
how you used feedback to improve, how you conducted investigations into topics, and what you
would improve on for next time)

During this lab i used critical thinking to solve the inconsistent parts of the lab and to find way to transfer energy and make energy transformations. when it came to the car sliding down into the dominos, the contact point of the dominos wouldn’t hit the marble right. Resulting in the marble not having enough speed to go around the track. The group collectively thought of ways to fix this, we ended up with putting markers where the dominos hit the marble best. We had brainstormed multiple ideas but came to the conclusion that marking the spot was the best, because it showed us that it was most consistent, in where the car hit the dominos and the speed at which the car would go on average.

The group would suggest ideas to each other to brainstorm ideas and give eachother feedback on where it could go wrong or the how it could possibly work without any drawbacks.

Something i would do differently next lab would be to try an make our machine more creative and cleaner looking.

ADL Social Studies-Ethical Judgement

Is violence justified during a revolution or protest?

How did the use of AI assist you in developing this project?

AI helped during the development of this project by helping me get ideas to add onto my argument and examples i could use that supports my argument. It also helped me get ideas for all my argument and starting them.

How did you ensure that the work you created was still your own, rather than just a product of the AI

I ensured that my work was still my own and not AI by implementing my ideas and the AI’s ideas. I also altered the AI’s ideas and worded how I would say it.

Did you agree with the position you had to argue? Why or why not?

I do agree with my position in the argument because i truly believe that there are better way to solve things rather than going straight to violence. As like i said in my rebuttal violence always only leads to more problems and getting yourself in more trouble.

 Core Competency Reflection

I am clear on the difference between simple “group work” and collaboration as evidenced by

My evidence on knowing the difference between group work and collaboration is my partner and I split the work evenly and helped each other with each others arguments and rebuttal. But we both knew that we had to do our work evenly so its not one sided, where someone wasn’t doing more than the other.

One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to

One way I ensure my partner is clear on the goal is to communicate when the things need to be done and what they need to do to be successful in the partnership.

Technology and Wellbeing Reflection

i have dealt with many forms of stress in my life, Some common way i deal with it would be getting my mind off of whatever stresses me out and do something i like. Usually being going on out with my friends/talking to them. This puts me in a positive mood and gets me motivated to do the work i left last minute. Technology has been a coping mechanism for me rather than something that stresses me out. It is always available to me if i need a break for whatever is stressing me out, whether that id texting my friends, going on social media or playing games. I can use technology to help my wellbeing by talking to someone about what is stressing me out rather than keeping it in and it keeps on building up.

I Find It Easy To Be part Of A Group

I find it easy to be a part of a group as i can be very vocal about my ideas. Which can help someone whos not as vocal to speak about their ideas.

i am kind to other and support other when they need it

If i see someone near me wanting help but the teacher isnt available, i try my best to help them. I am also very inclusive if i see someone not have a group in a project.

I participate in classroom or group activities that improves the class, school and community

if the teacher ask the class a question, i try to answer if i know what it is or i have an idea what it could be. I try to participate in school and community activities if available

How do schools in Japan compare to canadian schools? Is there anything they do in Japan, that you wish we did in centennial? In Japan everyone walks or takes the train then walks to school no matter how far their school is. But in Canadian schools it is normalized to get dropped off to school or take the bus to school. Japan also has multiple pairs of shoes for different locations of the school. But in Canadian schools everyone wear the same pair of shoes everywhere. Something i wish they did here that they do in Japan is the amount of school sports clubs there are so i can compete against new schools almost every time.

Do you think that student should have more responsibilities at school like cleaning duties or clubs/sports? I think all students should be required to be in a club/sport because it could get the school more recognition or awards for the club/sports.

How lucky are you in じゃんけん? would you be able to snag leftovers? I think im lucky enough to win in じゃんけん and i think i would be able to snag leftovers.
