Core Competency Self Assessment

Critical Thinking

When I saw this question I thought to myself “how did I solve other ones like this?” I realized that I needed to get the radical by its self. I then had to get rid of the radical and get one side to equal to 0. From there I had to think of how I would factor it. I could have used quadratic or factored by what multiplies to 6 and adds to 5, ultimately I chose the latter of the 2 options. This method was way faster that quadratic. I then had to verify my answer of -3 or -2 and -3 was correct. I was able to apply prior knowledge to each problem I faced within this question which lead me to a smooth process.
