There are many examples within the literature that contains multiple illustrations of the character of Mooch. It is apparent that Mooch retains both admirable and unfavorable attributes. To begin, Mooch is a good friend when he manages to acquire a drink from floyd when he was “thirsty”. Clearly, Floyd has a special connection to Mooch when he gives him a drink after Mooch had just taken his fishing spot from him. Furthermore, he showcases his strength when he “[walks] by [the] bridge” of his deceased friend “everyday”. From the horrible event that happened at the bridge, it’s evident that Mooch has much courage to be visiting daily a place where he had witnessed his old friend commit suicide. However, Mooch displays a bad addiction towards gambling and alcohol.Because of this bad habit of drinking beers and purchasing “pull-tabs”, it indicates that he is affected by the traumatic occurrences in his life and he is trying to cope by keeping his mind occupied at the bar with Floyd and George. In conclusion, Mooch has some negative qualities but his positive characteristics far outweighs it.
