Music Monday “LAND” Map Assignment: Self Assessment

Curricular Response

My Map is called the beauty of Nature. I drew a butterfly as they are known to be beautiful, and my quotation is ” Now tell me, how do you put a price on nature.”

Core Competency Self-Assesment

The only difficulty I had when doing this assignment was deciding what theme or meaning my map should mean. However, I overcame it by finding the similarities in between songs.

I selected the images by drawing the binary opposites and chose the words from the quotations. I found this easy as my theme was about nature.

My cultural background or values didn’t effect my decisions.

Lab 19C Core Competency Refection

Collaborating

I can work with others to achieve a goal. I demonstrated this when working with my partner during Lab 19C. We decided what our roles were during this lab, he would pour in the chemicals and write down the observations if the reaction would form a precipitate. I would pour water in the tube and mix it. We would work together forming an answer for what we observed while making sure we did the procedure correctly.

Core Competency Self Reflection

Collaboration

This semester our group was big but we managed to work well together. My role in our group was to write down the questions and help out spot math mistakes when watching a groupmate do a question. In each question shown in the picture we would let any of our groupmates to try the question first. Then once they would get stuck or have a problem we would all help and try to figure it out. Someone would look over on the notes or see if something was calculated wrong. One area I would like to improve on in collaboration is taking on different roles and tasks in the group. Furthermore, I want to start being the one who writes a lot on the board since I only help verbally.

Connecting Media and Psychological Disorder Mind Map Reflection

I get ideas when I use my five senses to explore or when I pursue my interests” I demonstrated this by listening to several songs which created ideas on how I can connect their lyrics to a disorder.

I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way” I demonstrated this by being able to understand what the lyrics of the song is trying to explain. Then share the information in an organized way. By using a simple mind map template and making sure the sentences we easy to comprehend.

I can analyze evidence to make judgements” I demonstrated this by analyzing the song lyrics and choose which psychology perspective I should use to create a connection between them.

Core Competency Self Assessment

Communication

In this lab we saw the diffusion of glucose, starch, water, and IKI. I can work with others to achieve this goal. I demonstated this by working with my group members when we were setting up the procedures. Doing this we made sure we would get the results we wanted. We also worked together when charting out observations during the lab. Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully are when I communicated with my partner helping each other answer questions about the lab.

Thinking

During the lab, I used my critical thinking to ensure we did it properly and answered the questions. I can analyze evidence to make judgements. I demonstrated this when tying up the dialysis tube. I realized the tube we tied up was not tight enough and decided to untie and make it tighter. I also demonstrated this when answering the questions. I analyzed all our observations and used it to answer questions like describing the evidence that glucose diffused into the cell membrane. Using the evidence, we obtained we saw that the cell membrane got heavier.

Research Assignment Reflection

The core competencies i demonstrated in this assignment was Communication. I worked well with others in the group achieving our goal of finishing the assignment. I was able to take responsibility and do my share by working on the writing portion of the assignment. Explaining our hypothesis, procedure, conclusion, etc. Also when we were brainstorming question ideas for our survey I encouraged everyone to share their ideas even if they were bad.

Conic Project

This project we had to create a self portrait of ourselves with the use of desmos. I first inserted a photo of myself in desmos. Than I started with the eyes by creating two circles and making one smaller than the other. For the eyelids I used three eclipses. to get the right shape of my eyes. One for the top and two for the bottom. For my chin I used a parabola and used a few linear lines for my jawline. For my cheekbone i used a hyperbola to get the right shape. For the lips I used for parabolas and two linear lines to connect the corners. For my nose I used two side parabolas for the corners and three parabolas in the middle of my nose. I used two circles for my nose holes. For the glasses it took a long time to get the right shape. I used two parabolas for the middles of my glasses and the bottom and top. I used two hyperbola lines for the middle of my glasses. The rest I used linear lines to connect everything. For my hair I mainly used parabolas and two linear lines for the bottom bit of my hair. For my eyebrows I used parabolas for the top of my eyebrows and linear lines for the middle and bottom sides of my eyebrows.

Titration Lab

Communication

During this experiment communication was important to finishing this lab properly. We would talk to each other on who gets the beakers, burette etc. We also would communicate with each other on how to improve on each trial run. we talked about what we did wrong and what we succeeded in. Whenever we needed help we would ask anyone near us or the teacher.

Core Competency Self-Reflection

The problems in this semester was challenging however watching multiple videos and reviewing the notes I was able to have a better understanding on how to solve the problems on my own. The critical thinking profile that suites me the most is that I can gather and combine new evidence with what I already know to develop reasoned conclusions, judgments, or plans. Furthermore, the description from that profile that fits my current level of thinking is that I can use what I know and observe to identify problems and ask questions.

The way I approached this question was first finding my amplitude and my vertical displacement using a formula which is max y-int-min y-int/2 to find my amplitude. To find the vertical displacement I used the same formula except they’re adding instead of subtracting. Once I figured out what those were I had to find my period. To locate what your period is you simply figure out the distance between the two peaks of the wavelengths which is 2.Then I used the formula 2π/2 = π to find my B to write the equation. After I figured that out I could already write the sine equation since there isn’t any phase shifts because sine wavelengths starts from the middle then to the top etc. However, I had to find the phase shift for the cosine equation because cosine graphs start from the top then to the middle etc. I found it by finding the nearest top point to the y axis which was 1/2 away on the x axis. Once I figured that out I was able to finish the problem writing the cosine formula for this graph.

An area I would like to grow on is asking more open ended questions to gather more information on what something I would struggle on.
