Core Competency Self-Reflection

The problems in this semester was challenging however watching multiple videos and reviewing the notes I was able to have a better understanding on how to solve the problems on my own. The critical thinking profile that suites me the most is that I can gather and combine new evidence with what I already know to develop reasoned conclusions, judgments, or plans. Furthermore, the description from that profile that fits my current level of thinking is that I can use what I know and observe to identify problems and ask questions.

The way I approached this question was first finding my amplitude and my vertical displacement using a formula which is max y-int-min y-int/2 to find my amplitude. To find the vertical displacement I used the same formula except they’re adding instead of subtracting. Once I figured out what those were I had to find my period. To locate what your period is you simply figure out the distance between the two peaks of the wavelengths which is 2.Then I used the formula 2π/2 = π to find my B to write the equation. After I figured that out I could already write the sine equation since there isn’t any phase shifts because sine wavelengths starts from the middle then to the top etc. However, I had to find the phase shift for the cosine equation because cosine graphs start from the top then to the middle etc. I found it by finding the nearest top point to the y axis which was 1/2 away on the x axis. Once I figured that out I was able to finish the problem writing the cosine formula for this graph.

An area I would like to grow on is asking more open ended questions to gather more information on what something I would struggle on.
