Spanish 11 Script

Collaborating Competency

One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to communicate with each other and collaborate with each other to finish our script.

I know the group is working well together when I hear and see the group talking to each other and creating ideas for our script and sharing it to the group.

I show others that I truly value their contributions by listening to their ideas and giving feedback on it whether or not it will fit our script.

Law – Desert Island

About the Activity

For this project we were given a scenario where our class’s plane has crashed on a deserted island. Furthermore, we had to create our own legal code to govern the island. The legal code we create must include, laws, a legal system, a way to enforce the laws, and etc.

Core Competency Reflection

I can ask and respond to questions to be an active, supportive listener. I chose this one because I asked my partner questions on how we can improve our code. Also, if he had any questions I would listen and always try to respond to solve his question.

I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way. I chose this one because I understood the past legal codes and systems. Doing so, I used the knowledge to help create the legal code for our project. Then I shared the information in an organized way.

I can form new ideas to create new things. I can also build on the ideas of others. I chose this one because this project helped me develop this Core Competency. After understanding the past legal codes, I tried to create new ideas to be included in my legal code.

I can reflect on my thinking. I chose this one because when we were making our laws I had to reflect on my thinking. This project helped me develop this Core Competency by helping me rethink my decisions on what laws we should create.

I can ask open-ended questions to gather information. I’m working on this goal to help me gather much information as it will help with future projects. To achieve my goal, I will listen to other people’s questions and think of ways to create an open-ended question to gather the information I need.

My Parabola

Formula y = a(x-h)^2 + k

Equation: š‘¦ = 2(š‘„āˆ’4)^2 + 2

Equation: y = x^2

The “A” in the formula determines the width of the parabola. Also, if “A” is negative, it will open downwards instead of upwards like my equation. “H” and “K” will determine the vertex of the parabola and vertex’s position. The “H” determines which side the vertex will be on the graph, if the number is negative, it will shift right if its positive it will shift left. The “K” will determine if the vertex will be below or above the 0. Therefore, if the number is positive, it will be above and if its negative it will be below. In conclusion, my parabola is different compared to the other one because both equations don’t have the same vertex and “A“.

Self-Assessment

  1. I used the same mathematical ideas by a graph, and equation, and using my words.
  2. A few vocabularies I used to demonstrate my understanding were parabola and vertex.
  3. I used a graph and made it big enough where it is shown clearly. I also wrote both of the equations and highlighted it to show which one it is on the graph. I highlighted A, H, and K in the formula and my equation to help share the information clearly.

Literary Paragraph -Mooch

There are many examples found within this literature that illustrate the character of Mooch. It is evident that Mooch is dysfunctional and acquired traumatic experiences from residential school. To begin, Mooch uses his bad habit to relieve stress. This is shown when Mooch enters the bar and always plays the pull tabs which is ā€œgambling.ā€ When a person walks in a bar they would go to the counter and buy a drink. However, Mooch always spends money on the pull tabs hoping to win the grand prize. Therefore, it shows that Mooch is addicted to gambling since he goes to the bar every day to drink. Furthermore, the fact that he is addicted to gambling and drinks everyday shows that he is dysfunctional and obtained stress from his experience in the residential school. To continue, Mooch himself does not have any money. This is implied when ā€œsteals money from Juneā€ before he arrives at the bar. Mooch demonstrates his dysfunctionality seeing that he steals money from his partner and does not tell June. In couples they would not steal money from each other. Also, Mooch does not use the money for a worthy cause as well, he spends the money on his gambling addiction and sometimes on beer. To conclude, Mooch still remembers the disturbing memories he has obtained from the residential school. He still remembers the ā€œabuseā€ he felt from the priest. Schools in the past would normalize abuse as a punishment if a child has been out of line. However, in residential schools they physically, sexually, and psychologically abuse the children that have done a bad action. Implying that whenever Mooch ran away or done something the priest dislikes he would be abused in the basement. During his mental breakdown during the bar displays that Mooch is still finding a way to cope and heal from the traumatic experience he has gained from school. Because of the previous evidence given, it is obvious that the residential school made Mooch dysfunctional and miserable. Ā

Core Competency Goals

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus. I take short breaks in between whatever I’m doing to help re-focus or boost my mood. During the breaks I might walk around for a bit, look through my phone, or listen to music. Doing so helps me increase my focus or re-focus on my tasks. I’ve learned that this was a great way to help me whenever I need it. I want to continue doing this goal as its beneficial.

In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by. During discussions I try to ask questions. Doing so will help me understand the topic more of what were talking. I find it better to ask questions rather than not knowing what to do. My goal is to continue asking questions and for help whenever I need it.

I appreciate feedback onā€¦ and prefer it comes in the form of. I appreciate any type of feedback. As it will help me improve whenever I receive feedback on anything. I can understand what I did wrong and what I could do better next time. My goal is to try to ask for more feedback since I rarely try to ask for any.

Electronics 10

A skill I learned during the project is learning how to properly solder and make it look nice.

A thing that went well was soldering my LED’s, the board, and the wires together.

Something I would do differently is having better measurements with the box. I would have made the box smaller and the USB port a little bigger.

MY FUTURE CAREER

MY FUTURE CAREER

In the future I want to become a pharmacist as my career. I want to become a pharmacist because you earn a good amount of money and it is less stress full compared to other medical jobs. For me to pursue towards this career I am choosing the right classes. To be able to apply for the pharmacy program in UBC. Therefore, I will keep trying to do my best in my studies so I can continue learning to become a pharmacist in UBC.

CORE COMPETENCY REFLECTION

I give, receive, and act on feedback to progress in my goals. I chose this one because whenever I receive my mark i reflect. To think of ways I can do better next time.

I get ideas when I use my five senses to explore or when I pursue my interests. This means i can rely and use all my five senses to pursue or explore.

I can form new ideas to create new things. I can also build on ideas of others. This means I’m able to form new ideas by myself to create new things. I can also form new things by other peoples ideas.

I can ask open-ended questions to gather information. I am working on to improve that statement to help me gather information better. To work towards this goal I’m going to think of open-ended questions or copy someone elses questions and think of ways to make it better.

Japanese Internment

My reasoning on why the internment camps is a clever idea and why I support it. The rumours I

hear from people and the reports I have seen it is terrifying. Putting the Japanese Canadians in

internment camps ensure parts of our safety because I believe some could be spies. Getting

information to plan an invasion. Or the invasion could start from inside Canada that is why the camps

were a promising idea. However, this can also ensure safety towards the Japanese Canadians. Because

every white Canadian is scared, and they might start killing the Japanese Canadians. Because they also

might be thinking they could be spies helping the Japanese invade Canada. That is my reasonings on

why the internment camp is a promising idea because it prevents the Japanese invading Canada. Also, it

is protecting and preventing the Japanese Canadians from attacks or verbal abuse from everyone who is

scared or racist towards them. I am confident with my reasonings on why we should put the Japanese

Canadians in internment camps for everyone’s safety.

Curricular Competency

āœ…I did assess and explained the changes the non-Japanese-Canadians went through in my research

handout.

āœ…I did assess and explained the changes the Japanese-Canadians went through. In my research

handout.

āœ…I made an ethical judgement about the action of internment the Japanese-Canadians in my

paragraph.

Core Competency

āœ…I did analyze evidence from the research I did and made judgements.

āœ… I now understand and can appreciate diverse perspectives on issues and can resolve problems  effectively and responsibly.

āœ… I can now understand and tell, after examining the facts of the possible threat from Japanese-

Canadians in Canada and the opinions of various people, the difference between fact and opinion.

Vertical & Horizontal Lines

Slope

Vertical lines have undefined slope. When doing rise over run, the run will always be 0. Because the undefined slope will always rise and not run.

Ex. a undefined slope

Horizontal lines have a zero slope. When doing rise over run, the rise will always be 0. Because the zero slope will always run and not rise.

Ex. a zero slope

Equation

Whenever x=___ whatever the x intercept is it will always be a vertical line. Because it doesnā€™t have a y point and the line will be drawn on the intercept of the line.

Ex. (3,7) x=3

Whenever y=___ whatever the y-intercept is it will always be a horizontal line. Because it doesnā€™t have a x point and the line will be drawn on the intercept of the line.

Ex. (7,3) y=3

Functions

All undefined slopes will not be a function because it will fail the vertical line test since it always has more that one point

Ex.

All zero slopes will be a function but not one to one because it wonā€™t fail the vertical line test but it fails the horizontal test.

Ex

Domain & Range

The domain of a undefined slope will always be x=___ whatever the x-intercept is and the range will be all real numbers. Because the domain only hits the x-intercept and the range is all real numbers because it will continuoesly go up and down.

Ex. Domain: x=3 Range: All real #’s

The range of a zero slope will always be y=___ whatever the y-intercept is and the domain will be all real numbers. Because the range only hits the y-intercept and the range is all real numbers because it will continuoesly go left and right.

Ex. Domain: All real #’s Range: y=3
