Computer Programming 11 Reflection

In Computer Programming 11, we finished the course off by completing a smart search bot and exploring new concepts involving excel spreadsheets. This was tricky because I had to challenge myself and use following instructions to troubleshoot and perfect the program. It took a few tries, but I was very glad to have completed the program. Our final assignment was to follow a YouTube tutorial to create a game (as pictured above). This was fun because it gave insight on how to use pygame and how to add pictures/sounds to make the game feel unique. Overall, I enjoyed taking Computer Programming 11 and am looking forward to taking Computer Programming 12 next year.

I CAN STATEMENTS
  • I get ideas when I play. My ideas are fun and make me happy — CREATIVE THINKING

Computer Programming Self Assessment

“Show-Off” was an assignment where we were required to use 4 coding concepts that we had used in the unit to create our own application. I was a little worried about this at first, but it was a great learning experience for me. I worked endlessly trying to figure out what worked and how I could incorporate my past coding concepts into this application, and it finally worked! My understandings of each coding concept had improved, and I am very glad to be able to show off the skills I have learnt in this unit.

I CAN STATEMENTS:
  • (CRITICAL THINKING) I can experiment with different ways of doing things.
  • (CREATIVE THINKING) I can usually make my ideas work within the constraints of a given form, problem, and materials if I keep playing with them.
  • (CRITICAL THINKING) I can monitor my progress and adjust my actions to make sure I achieve what I want.
