Core Competency Self-Assessment

Critical and Reflective Thinking

The reality of a courtroom subverted my expectations by being slightly underwhelming. While their may be a few courtrooms you can walk into with both a crown and a defense, i found the majority of the courtrooms i would walk into would be something uninteresting like parking tickets or failure to check in for parole. While underwhelming , it was still interesting to witness the process of a court hearing and being able to observe how each role plays a part in the courtroom. What i found most interesting was how much technology has been integrated into the legal system. In almost every courtroom i walked into there were not only massive television screens but large cameras as well so whoever joined virtually could see the courtroom.

Inductive/Deductive Reasoning Games

the game I played today was Codebreaker. The games premise is quite simple and consists of eight to twelve rounds where you have the chance to put in the correct colors in the correct order in order to win the game. If you get the right color in the wrong spot it will tell you, but it will not tell you the color . If you get the right color in the right spot it will tell you, but wont tell you which color. I used a simple strategy, of guessing and slowly swapping out colors. Using deductive reasoning when it would show me that i got something right or wrong .

Active Health Unit Core Competency Reflection

The Daily Lifestyle Tracker allowed me to analyze my habits and patterns I could see in my during a school week. It let me see what I was doing well and what I needed to improve on. Overall, the Daily Lifestyle Tracker was a good addition to my routine as it allowed me to improve on my bad habits and weaknesses.

what aspect of your lifestyle do you think you could improve upon?

I could definitely improve on my sleep habits, on school weeks I normally get 5-6 hours of sleep, 7 if I’m really lucky. To improve my sleeping patterns, I could incorporate relaxation techniques such as deep breathing exercises or meditation before bedtime to help unwind and prepare my body for sleep. Additionally, prioritizing regular exercise and a balanced diet can promote my overall well-being and enhance my quality of sleep.

NM/SPKNLNG. 10 – End of Semester Edublog Post

One assignment I am proud of is my Farenheit 451 rap that me and my classmate Arvin collaborated on. The rap song followed a basic song structure with verses, a chorus, and a bridge. Me and my partner spent most of our time writing the lyrics as we wanted the lyrics to be meaningful and relate to the story. However, we had the most fun actually recording and mixing the vocals. We are proud of this assignment due to the effort we put in, and the final result of our work. The song actually sounds pretty decent and while our delivery of the lyrics might be off the lyrics themselves are well written (In my opinion)

R2 – Harajuku Fashion

I believe harajuku fashion is an incredibly “out there” fashion statement. I think it’s so crazy where it could be fashionable and work in Canada. I Like the more monochromatic forms of harajuku fashion. They seemed to look more regular and I’m fine with that. I think the reason this style of fashion is so popular is because it allows the youth to express themselves through fashion and go against the “standard” that has been put up. Fashion is incredibly important to me as I used to dress like a goober. I now take my fashion seriously and try to make outfits that give me confidence. An outfit can make or break my day. My fashion is inspired by a lot of my friends and people I see on social media. I like my fashion style. If I actually had money to spend I think I would be able to improve my fashion style drastically.

R1-Sando

Why do you think Japan is so creative with its sandwiches?

I think Japan is creative with its sandwiches to incorporate as much of its cuisine into a simple package as possible. Also to give people a variety of foods to add to their diet. These sandwiches are so much better than the ones you see in Canada. Canadian sandwiches are boring and are almost always the same. White bread, mayo, lettuce, meat, cheese. In japan you can find, fruit, egg, tonkatsu, on delicious fluffy bread.

What is the most creative meal you have had? Would it taste good in sandwich form?

I’m not sure what the most “creative” food I’ve had is but I can take one of my favourite meals, filippine curry, and sandwichify it. I think the curry would be amazing in a sandwich however it is a little wet so something would need to be added for texture such as bread crumbs or anything else crunchy.

What sandwich type are you most excited to try?

I would be most excited to try this kind of sandwich. A strawberry cream sandwich. The reason I would want to try this is because I have seen it in a strictly dumpling video and have been obsessed ever since. It looks so good and the way he describes it makes it sound even better.

If offered, would you eat a piece of Anpanman’s head? why???

I probably would not eat a piece of his head as not only would I feel bad, but Anpanman would lose his powers in the process. Anpanman definitely has some other people that are worth saving more than I am anyways.

Reflecting On My First Year

My Grade 9 Year

My Grade 9 Year has been an incredibly fun experience. I’ve made new friends and had some of the best times with them. The work and assignments were reasonable and I got most of them done. This year has provided me with some of the best and worst experiences of my life; However I’d say this year has been very enjoyable.

My Favourite Website

https://quizlet.com/en-gb Has been my favourite website so far this school year. It carried me in socials and science. I would most likely be failing without it.

My Favourite Video

I chose this as my favourite video because the symbolism/message behind this video is what makes me love it. In the video, Tyler the Creators past albums/personas can be seen all standing around, with each one slowly being picked off by “normal” Tyler. Symbolising a change in self by dropping all the egos. With the final and most recent album being killed is CMIYGL or, Sir Baudelaire, the character with the biggest ego.

My Favourite Image

Out of many photos I have taken this year this one has to be my favourite. It’s just so visually appealing to me I don’t really know why.

this photo just goes hard

My Favourite Quote

“If we tryna build up to have material things, and those don’t satisfy our needs, what are we living for?”
-Capital Steez

I like this quote because it makes you think about the choices you have made and the person you want to be. If you spend all your time working towards expensive clothes, cars, jewellery, it makes you prioritise the things that don’t matter in life.

R Self Study

how i study:

This is me when I study. I look over past worksheets and normally listen to music while doing so. Japanese makes me lose my mind, so listening to music really helps calm me down.

An example of something I have spent a lot of time learning about is… the hiragana alphabet took time to memorize and while I still need a refresher every now and then I would say that I have a near full understanding of hiragana. I achieved this using multiple techniques such as recognizing similarities in the alphabet and flash cards.

I am curious about all the kanji that exist in the japanese language that I am excited to learn more about how I could memorize basic kanji  to make it easier to write sentences in a short amount of time.

To celebrate an accomplishment such as doing good on a test, I do absolutely nothing. Whenever I do good on a test I’m of course happy, I tell my mom, and then nothing else.

I will continue to study Japanese outside of class to further help me in the following years.
If there is any advice I could give for anyone going into Japanese, it would be to thoroughly study the vocabulary sheets and familiarize yourself with the alphabet as soon as possible.
