The internet is one of the most used inventions in the world, and staying safe on it is important. One of the main things the internet mis used for is social media, it’s hard to make sure your being safe on them. Some steps I really recommend is making all your accounts private, don’t post anything inappropriate, don’t give out sensitive information, and do not click on random links. By taking these steps you should have a pretty safe internet experience, being positive will also help you and others feel like you have a safe space. By being kind to others on the internet you can make others feel better about themselves, have a better mindset, feel accomplished, and feel good about yourself. Even though social media is supposed to be a safe, fun, entertaining space there are a lot of bad things that come with it. For example, cyber bullying, hackers, leaked information, toxicity, and inappropriate content. Stay away from those kinds of things or people by blocking or reporting the content. Stay safe and to be kind to everyone.
Competency Reflection
– Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced online presence include…
not exposing my age, keeping my last name private,
not mentioning my age, keeping my last name out of users, making my accounts private, not commenting anything rude on posts, and trying to limit my screen time.
– By doing… online, I make a positive difference to my peers.
I feel I make a positive difference to my peers when I compliment them on a post and support them by being there virtually like answering their questions or giving them advice. I try my best to make sure others feel good about themselves online.
My online support network (ex. Teachers’ TEAMS pages, Tech Leadership Edublog, Career Centre web-site,
Library web-site, Centennial school web-site, etc) is helpful to me because they…
help me be more organized with my assignments and make them easier for me to do. I can also communicate better with the school and search up helpful resources for me to use when I need. Overall, the online support for students is very helpful and I am very happy to be able to use them.
