Persuasion and Advertising Learning Reflection
a. Which advertising technique did you choose and how did you use that technique to create your poster?
For this poster I used a technique called “Card Staking”. I highlighted positive things in the product and made it more attractive to potential customers. I showed them that my product is way healthier than any other fast-food they may purchase, and they will not gain weight because of my production.
b. Explain how and why you chose the colors, words, background, etc. that you used to make your advertisement.
I used the same color pallet for my advertisement and used not bright colors. Bright colors getting attention, but it usually irritates eyes and killing all the desire to purchase the product. As a background I used my product, to show people how it actually like in real life. I choose those words because I thought that it would be a good idea to use short and good knowing words instead of long text and scientific word to explain why my product is better.
c. What do you think others who aren’t in your class should know about advertising?
it pretty hard to do a good advertisement. you should in details know everything about your product, you should know what would get customers attention to your product, you should know what kind of design you will use for your product, you should know for what kind of people this product made for and a lot more. It’s not easy to make an advertisement that people would like and actually buy the product after seeing that.
Core Competency Reflection
To make a good advertisement you should really know how to choose design for your product. This is how I selected images and words to create impact for my planned audience: first of all, I didn’t choose the bright colors, it would made product look more “toxic” or “chemical used”, I’ve seen a lot of adds using bright colors for energy drink or for electron cigarettes so I didn’t think it would be a good idea. Second, also used one color pallet for the advertisement, it made image look better and not stand out too much. The last but not least, for the background I used vegetables, like latus and tomatoes, to show that it’s heathier and better than others fast-food companies’ food.
I used to think that people who did advertisements did not too much job with them, just film of draw something and that’s it, but now I know that it actually pretty hard work because of all nuances they have to work with. they need to know the auditory of the product or they need to know what style of they need to use for each item they advertise. for example, they need to use different methods if their auditory is teens on if they adults. they need to use different color pallet if they are making advertising for food or jewelry. I didn’t know that there also a lot of advertisement technique, I’ve never paid attention to the difference of “Card stacking” or “Glittering Generalities”, but now when I know about this it makes me think that advertising anything is not that easy.
