Physics – What I Learned

Core Competency Reflection
- Topics or concepts for which I can offer detailed feedback or analysis include…
I can offer detailed analysis of almost any topic out of what I had learned in this unit. I can explain what a is circuit and make one, after the practice in lab, I can offer an explanation what is a parallel circuit or series circuit and show how they work. I learned a lot about different types of energy sources in this class, the different advantages and the disadvantages connected with them. For example, Solar energy uses panels to transform sun light into energy, it is a renewable energy source, but the problem is that is there is not enough sun light to energy will simply not produce. Similar problem with wind power, wind turbine transforms wind blow into energy but if there is not enough wind it will not work. Nuclear energy does not have such a problem, it always works even if there is no sun or wind, it uses nuclear fuel to split atoms and use it to produce energy. the main problem it the nuclear power is dangerous because of radiation. So, consider everything what I said about I want to say that I learned a lot a science 9 class this semester, I learned about charges, energy sources and a lot more but other than this I learned how to analysis things, how to give feedback on things and to think critically.
An example of something I have spent a lot of time learning about is…
I spend a lot of time trying to work on my understanding of Ohm’s Law. I learned V=I⋅R, so V stands for voltage and measures in volts, I stands for current, measures in amperes and the last but not least, R stands for resistance and measures in ohms. Besides this I spend some time on remembering formulas to find current and resistance. To find current you need to use I=V/R, and to find resistance you need R=V/I. That’s not the only thing I spend a lot of time on, a good among of time I spend on learning difference between insulators and conductors. It took me a while until I finally understand the difference between them and remembered what kind of objects considered insulators or conductors. Conductors are materials that let electrons flow through it easily, some of those materials are copper, silver, graphite and a lot of other different metals. Insulators is an opposite of the conductors; electrons cannot flow through them. Some examples of insulator are glass, plastic, oil, rubber and etc. I spent a lot of time on each topic in science but those two were hardest for me to remember so I spent a lot of time on them, but I think my hard work will be worth it in the future.
Goal
My goal for the next year in science is to learn more about physics. I am going to be way better listener then I was before this year, my goal is to get a proficient or even extending in science and especially in physics. I am dreaming of having a great knowledge about it so I can learn engineering and be able to fix electronics in my house by myself.
