I find that I have quite a bit of stress in my life, mostly coming from school. I get stressed out with the pressure to do well on assignments and especially tests, or when I have a build up of things to do. Another thing that gives a lot of people stress is sports and especially doing well at sports games. I find that I feel a lot of pressure when I have a basketball game, and it makes me anxious, which is stress.
To manage stress in my life and care for my wellbeing, I try to get things done before things build up and I get stressed out. A strategy that I use to manage my stress is: creating a “To-Do List”. Whenever I have a bunch of school work or things I need to get done, I write them all down so I can clearly visualize a plan. This really works for me because I feel relief when I can check things off my list.
For me, technology helps me keep track of all my work because I can check teams. I find it very helpful when teachers post assignments and homework on teams, so I can see what I have to do, just in case I forget. However, a few time this year I have panicked when I check teams. I usually check teams during the evening, but one time, I saw that an assignment was due the next morning, when we just got it assigned. I was stressed out all night, and did not get a great sleep. The next morning I checked with my teacher, and it turns out it was just a mistake. This is my example of how technology is helpful, but can also cause more stress.
Core Competency Reflection
I find it easy to be part of a group: I can relate to this because I enjoy being part of a group, and when I am in a group, I feel included and I feel like I help my group work together. An example for this is when we did the dance unit in PE. It was not hard for me to be a part of a group, because my friends and I communicated and created a group.
I am kind to others, and support others when they need it: I can relate to this because I find it really important that I am kind to others and if I am able to help them, I will give them my support. This means a lot to me because if I am struggling, I would want my peers to do the same and give me support.
I demonstrate respectful, inclusive behaviour: I can relate to this statement because I try my best to be respectful and have proper behaviour. Also, I find that being inclusive is really important because being alone and not included is something that causes me stress.
