Rather than investing in stocks, I chose a GIC to achieve my down payment because I needed my investment to be guaranteed. I invested $80,000 into a three-year 4.2% GIC. After I did my calculations in Excel, this gave me $10,509,29. When I combined my original investment with the ten grand I saved per year. In the end, I achieved 15% of the purchase price of $800,000 that I had set for myself. The total amount I saved came out to $120,509.29.
If there’s a disagreement in my group, I find it helpful to hear both sides of the story. Once everyone listens, we all come to a compromise.
One strategy or activity that stimulates my imagination is going for a walk wearing my headphones. This helps me calm down and reflect on what we’re doing in class.
I respectfully advocate for my needs by talking to a teacher. If it’s something private or personal, I’ll email them beforehand.
I know the group is not working well together when I see people visibly uncomfortable. Also, when people are talking over one another or not talking at all.
I found working with my group refreshing since I prefer working with kids rather than adults.
I contributed to the group by adding to discussions. My group members contributed to my learning by clarifying and answering my questions.
I did propose solutions to the group, and so did my group members we ended up using all of them. My group took everyone’s ideas and combined them, so everybody would get a say.
I would say I would give myself a three out of four because sometimes I would slack off, but most of the time I was working with my group.
I knew how my avatar would look because the author described how the main character looked many times. She explained that Anne has green eyes, red hair and freckles in several chapters and that Anne has a liking for fancy clothes.
The plot points I chose are where the story’s action occurs, I only included the parts that kept the story moving, and I didn’t drag out my presentation.
I know how you can figure out the setting, you can distinguish what time a story is in history by the clues the author gives the reader. Does the author mention cell phones? What language do the characters speak? Is there modern-day technology? Do your characters walk to school or do they take a car? Are cars even invented yet? These are all ways you can tell what place and year a story takes place in.
The mood in a movie is how a certain scene makes the characters, you and the atmosphere feel. The producers would put melancholy music and washed-out colours to make a scene more upsetting. If they wanted to show happiness, the characters would wear brighter colours, such as yellow or pink and the soundtrack would be upbeat.
I choose my song because it had a positive beat and the melody reminded me of a lovely warm day. Green Gables is often described by Anne Shirley as an absolutely heavenly place, so I wanted to find music that matched that feeling.
Anne of Green Gables was an incredible story and I would really recommend it to everybody. It doesn’t seem to have a specific age group for reading, so I would say it’s a story for everyone.
I respectfully advocate for my needs by asking peers/teachers for help when I don’t understand the work we’re doing.
In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by making sure to contribute and by adding to what others say.
When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I go for a walk and recollect my thoughts/feelings, so I’m ready to continue learning.
