Persuasion and Advertisement Unit Reflection

· Why is it important to remember who benefits from the advertisement when you view an advertisement?

It is important to remember who benefits from the advertisement so that we don’t make impulse decisions about buying products. Companies will never give you something if it means they lose money, so if it seems like they will, that means there’s more to it than it initially seems.

· Choose one form of persuasion and explain why it is effective in persuading you/an audience: logical, ethical, emotional

Emotional persuasion works because human brains are very easily tricked by simple things and will make people feel like they NEED to buy something, and it’s very hard to un-convince someone when they are skillfully emotionally persuaded.

· Choose an advertising technique and explain why it is effective in selling a product.

Testimonial or plain folk advertisement techniques are effective because they are relatable. It feels more like it’s your friend earnestly recommending a product to you rather than a business trying to sell you someone.

  • Listening to what they were saying.
  • Making sure I heard their opinion, even if they didn’t speak up.

· Some things I thought about when dividing tasks among my group members were:

  • Who had what skills and tools, so people would work on things they were good at.
  • Who wanted to do what task
  • The remaining tasks would be divided so everyone has the same workload.

· I knew my group is working well together when I saw:

  • Discussion that was even, not one person dominating the conversation.
  • People disagreeing with each other, but still resolving the conflict and deciding upon an idea.
  • Everyone generating good ideas and building off one another

My First Year

My Grade 9 Year

This year, I am most proud of what I created in my Arts & Crafts class. This course has been the most difficult for me so far, as I know almost nothing about the techniques often used in that class. It has challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and try something new and has helped me develop techniques to keep myself going. When I am having difficulty with something in this class or others, I will first try to look for materials given by the teacher on websites like Microsoft Teams. Then, I will try to ask my teacher or peer tutor for help.

The website I chose is the Centennial School Weekly Planner at https://centennial.myweeklyplanner.net/. I chose this website because it helps me book my flex period which has been very helpful for me.

This video is from my animate e-card assignment. The assignment was to make a holiday themed, animated e-card. This video was my final project. I chose this video because this was a fun assignment to complete and it taught me a lot about Adobe Animate and I am happy with how the final project turned out.

This is an image of a my final project for my ADL assignment on digital footprint. I chose this image because it was a very fun assignment to do and I am very proud of it.

I chose this quote because it is very applicable to me as I have a big problem with not doing my homework. It can help me make sure I complete my homework on time.

Is violence justified during a protest?

A) How did the use of AI assist you in developing this project 

AI mainly assisted me by helping me find sources and a summary of what they say. I didn’t use what the AI said as my argument, I just used it to find a basic summary of a few sources, and then used it to find sources.

B) How did you ensure that the work you created was still your own, rather than just a product of the AI 

Because I didn’t use what the AI said in my project, I only used what it said to see what kind of information I would get from a source. I didn’t ever copy and paste or just reword what it said and put it in my project.

C) Did you agree with the position you had to argue? Why or why not? 

I agree with the position I argued but only in rare situations. I think the use of violence should be an absolute last resort in a revolution and only when the situation is dire, when people’s basic rights are being damaged.
