First what is a titration? A titration is a technique used to find the concentration of an unknown solution by reacting it with a known solution. In this lab we used a titration, we used phenolphthalein to how us when a base and an acid react completely. It also lets us measure how much acid neutralizes a base or the other way around. In the lab there was a equivalence point, that point is when the pink stays for 15 seconds then disappears. We knew when we hit the end of the lab once there was equal parts of both reactants were mixed.
Core Competency Reflection (Communication)
My partner and I used communication a lot during our lab. We first started by discussing who would gather what materials were needed. We would talk back and forth about what we were doing and if we had hit the equivalence point. This lab had tons of communication from debating what to do or making the right judgment, we had to work together.
As part of Mr. Peterson’s Metalwork 10 class we made a folding shovel. I liked this project because we had to use lots of different machines.
my turned out good, the shovel folded easy and screwed back in on the other side with ease.
If I make one of these shovels again I would try and make my threads better, I would do that by making sure the tap is straight up and down.
I think the best part about my shovel was definitely my handle, the grip on it was absolutely perfect. the grip felt goo and did not slip out of my hand.
I choose creative thinking because I feel that my projects was creative. Although the idea of a statue is not the most creative thing I think that the way I made it was. While most people were using clay to make their statues I went with a different route. I choose to make my statue of Irena Sendler because I thought that she was one of the best people who did things in the war. I think my strength in this was the way I made the statue. I think next time I do this I will try and make it more structural so it stand up more straight.
I examine my thinking, seek feedback, reassess my work, and adjust. When a teacher or peer gives my feed back about my progress I listen. I take into account what they say and try and use what they say to better myself.
I am flexible and open-minded; I can explain more than one perspective and consider implications.
When I do a project or a lab I understand that there is more then just on perspective to look at. I consider and the things that could affect the project and work with that.
personal awareness and responsibility
I take risks and recognize that I may not be immediately successful.
when I realize that I might not be the strongest at something I try and improve. I ask others and my teachers to help me when I don’t understand or haven’t fully gotten the concept.
I can ask questions and offer judgments, conclusions, and interpretations supported by evidence I or others have gathered.
when I do not understand something I feel that I am good at noticing I don’t understand and then asking for help. This happens lots and I fell that I can confidently ask when I am not understanding.
communication
In discussions and conversations, I am focused and help to build and extend understanding.
When we have group discussions in class I try and get points from every person and let everybody speak. Letting everybody speak ensures that you will have a group that is well diverse in ideas.
I am an engaged listener; I ask thought-provoking questions when appropriate and integrate new information.
When I have conversations with people I always look for 2 or 3 things that I can ask questions about. This helps with me understanding the topic more and or challenging the thing they are talking about.
What is one thing you felt you have improved on this semester?
the main thing I feel that I have improved is the ability to know when I am struggling and reaching out for help
For my curricular competency I chose to do evidence, I feel that I showed my evidence really well in my Passchendaele assignment. For my slide on outcome and impact I listed all the casualties and how countries in this battle suffered in it.
If there is disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to ask both groups to share their opinions and respect both parties and what they are saying. If people really don’t agree I like to get parts of both ideas and put it into the project. For the most part people usually agree on most ideas this really never happens. Another things if there is a disagreement on work that has been done, then we will all work on the part and use all of our ideas.
I have a couple of career life goals, I want to have a good paid job, good vacation days and good work hours. For me to peruse a career in Home Repair I will have to do a few things. I need to get ok grades in English and math for me to get into a trade. I can also get into Home Repair with just a chigh school degree. For me to get better at this job I need to probably take Physics to get better for this job.
Core Competency Reflection
I can represent my learning and tell how it connects to my experiences – I am a confident speaker and not shy in front of a class, I am fine at making a presentation and presenting it in front of the class or explaining my experiences that I have done.
I can reflect on my thinking – I can show what I have done and what my thoughts are, I can present my thinking and thoughts in many ways. I can explain my thinking to people without being embarrassed or shy.
I can tell the difference between facts and opinions – I can easily respect peoples opinions and there beliefs without being rude. I like to acknowledge what the person is saying and understand where they are coming from and step into their shoes.
I can identify my strengths and identify my potential – I can tell people what I have been doing good and what I have been doing wrong. I can explain what I can do to improve what I can do to be better. I can tell people what I can do to be better.
This entire script is full of communication, with all of us going through it and making the script well. We had to talk about this script and make sure we all agreed on the right words to use. During the presentation we had to talk Infront of the class. We had to think together and bounce ideas off of each other.
What was something you learned that you didn’t know or consider before?
I did not consider that they have changed the rules of CPR and there are no breathing into the mouth.
What is a key takeaway from the Theory or Practical CPR unit?
My take away is that CPR can help in many situations but may not revive the person every time.
How does this unit connect to the nutrition unit learned previously?
This unit connected by explaining about how eating healthier and have a good diet can reduce the risk of heart disease
Core Competency Reflection
COMMUNICATION
You have to use communication when performing CPR to tell people around what to do. Explaining to 911 what has happened and if you revive the person comforting them.
