Core Competencies Self Assessment

Competency #1: “I can gather, select, evaluate and synthesize information”.

I gather lots of materials from different things we’ve learnt like from our French Revolution unit. When we would learn things I was trying to be good about writing it all down so I could study for later. If I don’t have some of the information I’ll ask the guy beside me for the information.

Competency #2: “I can explore and engage with materials and sources”.

With all of the material I have, usually before a test I’ll write all the things I think are important down on one paper. Days before up until the day of I’ll review what that paper has just to remind my mind. When we have Kahoots lots of times Ms. Mattson puts up the Kahoots on Teams that I’ll review.

Reflection Questions – Is it justified to deny the rights of people in order to industrialize?

A) How did the use of AI assist you in developing this project 

AI helped search for questions quicker and gave me new ideas.

B) How did you ensure that the work you created was still your own, rather than just a product of the AI

most of the things i wrote were from my head and not from IA. 

C) Did you agree with the position you had to argue? Why or why not? 

a little because you can use a little force but not a lot without people fighting back

Competency Reflect

When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I try and get to know the person better.

One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to ask them if they understand it and know what I’m saying.

My 2023/2024 Year Goals

Reflection:

I think most of my goals were reasonable and I can complete them but others I’m not so sure of. For example “Finish my assignments on time” my be hard with do football because I might miss some classes when we are doing assignments. Another hard on to complete is “Get 1 extending” as I have heard from you and other teachers getting an extending is very hard to get. Some goals won’t be too hard to do as some are “Get more plays in football” and “Drink more water during practice”. Overall i think the goal are reasonable and have some challenge to them.

Ethical Judgement on Residential School

I Statement: I can make an ethical judgement about the treatment of children in Indian Residential Schools.

Residential School where clearly not good but here are some reasons why, in these schools kids were taken away when they were very young and sometimes didn’t come back home after. These kids were given number almost like the Holocaust, the kids were physically and mentality abused. The people who survived the Residential Schools are scared for life, they were taught that there culture was wrong. The people who ran the School were told to (Beet the Indian out of the kids). That’s why the Residential School.
