One of the main areas of my development this year was the communication skills. I improved my ability to listen to others and express my thoughts through this class. I was able to express myself and widen on the creative thoughts of others through group conversations about Shakespeare and Macbeth. For instance, I shared what I thought and heard other viewpoints during our class’s discussion of Shakespeare’s piece. This expanded my knowledge of the topic at hand and my ability to communicate things in an understandable and impactful way.
In my time at school, the Thinking competency was equally important. I improved my ability to evaluate and comment on my writing. I developed my critical thinking abilities by studying Shakespeare’s plays and poetry, including reviewing the effects of literary methods, exploring topics and how they relate to the actual world and drawing findings from the text’s evidence. These abilities not only benefited me in the classroom but also improved my understanding of how to evaluate various kinds of communication in everyday situations.
My first goal for this semester is to be patient and inclusive when collaborating in group work. I tend to want to take control of group projects, however, I’m aiming to give everyone a chance to express their learning and knowledge.
Critical and Reflective Thinking
My second goal is to use critical and reflective thinking with all my upcoming assignments and projects. I don’t want to rush my work or rely on other people to always assist me, I want to be able to use my own thoughts and ideas for my own, original work.
This is a photo of the lab pallet from a science lab I completed. I can assess my reasoning by confirming that I followed the proper method. As this lab has shown, I base my decisions and opinions on the evidence. I am better able to explain consequences and/or next steps when I situate my work and/or ideas within a larger perspective. For instance, I brought more Litmus paper when I realized we would need it for the lab. I got along well with my group and throughout the lab, I made sure he understood every question by asking additional ones if he felt unclear. I carefully repeated the main ideas and provided examples to support them whenever I felt that they needed further clarification, until we both understood.
I’m proud of the fact that I’ve gotten better at speaking French orally, as seen by the rise in that section’s grades. To my surprise, learning French has been simple for me, and I haven’t had to worry too much about it. However, because I didn’t priorities the cahier, I did have a tendency to slack off, which slightly affected my grade.
My Favourite Project
I appreciated working on the French Culture project since it allowed me to learn more about the nations that speak French. We worked very hard to make sure our content was accurate, succinct, and clear. Nobody wants to sit through a presentation when the speaker is looking down and reading their script, therefore if I could do the project over, I would have memorized my cue cards so that I could engage the class in better learning by making eye contact with them.
I discovered this year that anything is possible if you have the right attitude. I set my goals for the year from the beginning and stuck with them until the end. My goal was to finish grade 9 with A’s and B’s. Yes, there were times when I didn’t want to do my homework, but I still managed to complete it, most of the time. There is a huge difference between the amount of schoolwork I had in middle school and the amount I have now. It’s harder now that I’m in high school because I feel like we’re always trying to catch up. I discovered that if you pay attention in class, you will have almost no homework and know what to study to do well on your tests. Overall, I have had a great year and met so many new people, I am looking forward to next year.
I chose this website because it will be useful to me whenever I have an exam or quiz to study for. It gives me the correct information but also in a way that is easy to understand and not as complex as other websites.
My Favorite Video
This is my favorite video because of what I learned watching it. It was not only enjoyable but it helped me finish my in class worksheet on time and efficiently. It was also a great way to learn about the history of the world in a fun way.

My Favorite Image
I picked this image because it showed me that with hard work anything can be possible. It also showed me that I have a passion for making items out of wood and if I really need to accomplish something I can.
My Favorite Quote
I picked this quote because it helps me work around problems when I just need to take a step back and think for a second. It also helps me in school when I am stuck with something in class, and I need to stop trying to figure out the perfect way but more the simple way.

Technology has helped me so much to cope with my stress. For example, it gives me the opportunity to communicate with my friends and loved ones without having to drive, walk or bus to them. Something else related to technology is using websites and videos to use as an escape during difficult times.
Core Competency Reflection
I find it easy to be part of a group.
I like working in teams because it gives me the chance to develop my ideas and comprehend those of others. Working in a group makes the task lot more interesting/easy because you can divide it up and finish more quickly while also thoroughly completing it.
I am kind to others, and support others when they need it.
I do this so as to boost rather than undermine their confidence. You never know when you might require assistance in the future, and people who are struggling or require support might just be what you need to succeed. Helping others never does any harm.
I can explain when something is unfair and advocate for others.
I care about people so, I am able to do this. I put myself in their shoes to see how I would feel in order for me to check into reality. If I were to have bad emotions, it would be a sign that something wasn’t right and that I should stand up for the victim of abuse.
If there is a disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to hear all possible solutions and let everyone share their ideas. Hearing everyone’s opinion opens up new perspectives and ways to approach something.
2. I know the group is working well together when I see everyone working towards the same goal in mind and no one is left out.
3. I show that I value feedback from others in my group by asking for everyones opinions and changing my plan accordingly.
Goals
A goal I would like to work towards is coming up with more creative ideas and being able to build of others to create a plan that everyone agrees with.
– I figured out what my avatar would look like by reading my book and looking for and passage that described him.
– I choose my plot points for my movie by listening for the important and interesting parts of my novel.
– I know that you have to find out what time place and when the story is set. I also know that if you know the age of your protagonist it can help with finding the time it was set.
– The work mood means what the movie makes you fell. It also means what the characters in the movie feel
Core Competency Reflection
When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I take a break from what I am doing. I also with wake three deep breaths and this usually helps me refocus.
In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by not focusing on something else, paying close attention to what the person is saying and not interrupting them when they are saying something.
This is how I select images and words to create impact for different audiences by making sure they are school appropriate.
I choose to do GIC investments because it was the quickest way to make the money I need without losing all of it. I also choose GIC because it has worked for others in the past and I knew if I waited long enough that I would make the money I need. Something that could of went wrong was if my investment declined for a year then I would of lost my money.
Core Competency Reflection
1. I can work with others to achieve a goal by communicating and listing to others’ ideas. For example, when people listen to others’ ideas the group can build them off and add to them in ways that help them and the group.
2. When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I take a five- or ten-minute break from what I am doing to calm down if I am mad and breath. For example, when I was in grade five working on a science project, I got mad at my group, I took five minutes to calm down and breathe and then our group got the project done.
3. I respect my group by listening to their ideas and building off their ideas. This helps our group get the work done while all getting along and not getting mad at each other. This also helps other group members who do not contribute share their ideas and help the group with the work.
4. I find it easy to be part of a group because I listen to other ideas and help build them off. I also help others contribute and share what they are thinking which helps the group get the work done quick but efficiently.
Collaboration and Contributions
I found that when me and my group were working together we all got along quit well. I also thought that everybody helped the group in the ways that they could.
I contributed to the group by helping with the equations and helping with the righting. Others helped by putting the equations into a calculator and actually getting the answer.
I used other solutions proposed by my group. I did this because if you don’t listen to your group and only do what you want then what you are doing may not turn out as well as it could have.
I would rate my ability to collaborate a 3 out of 4.
