What is your opinion on Harajuku fashion? In my opinion I think Harajuku fashion is cute but also a bit too much, I understand that it is a way of expression but I do not think I would dress myself that way. Have you seen Harajuku influences in Canada? From personal experience I have not seen anyone dress with as many accessories and colours in one outfit other than the Harajuku videos we saw in class. The closest style that I have seen in Canada would be goth clothing. Which type of Harajuku fashion did you like best? Personally I enjoyed seeing the Decora version of Harajuku fashion because there were so many details that you would not have noticed with just a glance. Japan is a country that values conformity, so why is Harajuku so popular among younger generations? I think that the youth of Japan decide to “rebel” against the common standard to find their own identity and feel like they are expressing who they are. How important is fashion to you? To me fashion is not that big of a deal and even though it is a fun way of expressing yourself I do not think people should be judged on what they are wearing. Overall, I think that Harajuku fashion is very unique and interesting to learn about, even if I do not plan of dressing that way myself.
