CPR Reflection

What was something you learned that you didn’t know or consider before?

I learned the importance of CPR and the physical toll it takes on your body. The importance of CPR can save a life if done correctly, and it is a good skill to know. It can also be very tiring after performing it for a long period of time.

What is a key takeaway from the Theory or Practical CPR unit?

The key takeaway from the CPR unit is understanding the different signs of stroke or cardiac arrest. This is key because you can help save someone’s life if you notice they are showing signs of struggle.

How does this unit connect to the nutrition unit learned previously?

The nutrition unit ties into the CPR unit because healthy choices can help prevent many of the issues that require CPR. Eating healthy foods and staying active can decrease your chances of heart attacks and strokes.

Core Competency Reflection

Examples of where I communicated clearly and purposefully can be seen when I did the physical exam. I was very confident, and I made sure to communicate during the CPR procedure. I think that communication is key during this unit because you have to talk with your classmates to ‘save a life’.

In this unit, I am proud that I accomplished a perfect score on my written exam. By studying and quizzing myself, as well as paying attention in class, I was able to remember most of the information needed for the test.

One area of CPR in which I’d like to spend more time learning is on heart attack and stroke. I would like to learn more about this because it is good to know about the signals in case a family member or friend experiences it.
