What was something I didn’t know or consider before?
The first thing that I learnt, was how fast that I had to do chest compressions. It was a shock to how tiring the practice was, especially when you had to use the AED, continuing to do chest compressions for 1 minute 45 seconds straight was extremely tiring, and left me weak for a few minutes after doing the exercise
One of the key takeaways I took from the practical test was how awkward it is to yell out those commands to people around you (even though i wasn’t talking to anyone) to get help.
How does this unit coincide with the Nutrition Unit?
In both units we talked about the downsides of Smoking, Obesity, and the upsides of exercise and proper nutrition. Because all of the things I listed contribute to your wellbeing as a living person, the stuff we do everyday can determine whether we get health impacts later on in life.
Core Competency Reflection
Communication
I was able to communicate clearly and loudly when asking people to go call EMS or 911, and get an AED. During this I also counted out loud counting the chest compressions that I had completed before getting to thirty and doing the breaths.
Thinking
One more area that I would like to spend more time on was the difference between Heart attacks, Strokes, and Cardiac Arrests, I know the bare minimum which is good but I would like to learn more about the differences so I can know on the spot.
Personal Social
In this unit I am glad that I was able to get my Certificate of CPR and pass with an 80% I feel that this is a mediocre score and wasn’t to the best of my abilities.
I can communicate my needs with the teacher, to seek assistance during class to get the necessary help that I need to exceed to the best of my ability during class. Examples of this would be asking either the peer tutors or the teacher to help explain topics or ask about specific spelling and accents, to properly learn the language.
I can/am able to, reflect on my own thinking and others to come to a conclusion to an answer for a specific question, or objective. I present this ability during group discussions and projects where I have to collaborate with other classmates to complete assignments.
I can use strategies that keep me in the know with group projects and assignments if I’m not in the classroom, if some other classmates were not in the class, I can inform them of what they missed and can help them to understand the topics.
Artifact
With this project I talked and collaborated with my partner to get a better understanding of what ideas they had/wanted to do, I did this to ensure that they felt included in the project and that they’re ideas felt heard and wanted. We ended up going along with the persons idea and I felt the project went well.
s Violence necessary during a Revolution or Protest?
The AI was very helpful in doing research it allowed me to gain information in a compact format, instead of going through articles that would take me 7-15 minutes to read through.
A way that I made sure the work I created was mine, was putting it into words that I would use, I also didn’t use that much AI for the arguments, I only used it to generate ideas so that I could then build off of them to create something of my own.
I did agree with the point I argued for I believe that if needed, it is ok to have violence in a revolution.
core competency reflection
My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks included, using information in past lessons on this topic and using AI or websites to gather specific information.
I was about to compile information that I received and to come to a conclusion on what info can help me and the topic that I was arguing for, Examples of this are my arguments that I made for the pro side of is Violence necessary in a Revolution
Asking questions is something that I can do consistently and confidently, examples of these actions are in science where I can ask confident and productive answers that could help me or my peers while in the classroom, and when I need help for myself if I don’t understand something properly. Another place where I can express this ability is in Power Technology, except displaying these factors when I need confirmation about an engine part/location and or a missing part, or needing an explanation of something said in the booklet.
Core Competency Reflection
A way that this strength can help me meet my challenges are, clarifying my doubts, when I ask questions I mostly have a vague idea of what I’m doing and just want to clarify on what we are doing or if the questions I’m answering are correct. Asking questions it can improve my communication skills and can make it easier to express my thoughts and ideas on the situation.
Something I learned with public speaking, is that it only gets easier the more you do it. Even though we have only done one stand up speaking assignment/speech, I feel that it was a way better experience then my other public speaking assignments/speeches. Maybe this is because I did a few when I was in Middle/Elementary, or maybe it was because I was up with some friends. But I think the biggest thing that makes a good speaker is confidence, if your confident in what your saying and actually project your voice, I think that people are more likely to listen because of your confidence. When someone is doing a speech its always good etiquette to be quiet and listen to the speaker because if it were you up there speaking you would want the crowd/class to be quiet and listen to what you have to say right? So why not show the same when someone else is up there speaking.
Collaborating Core Competency Reflection
Ways I include my group members is if someone hasn’t talked for a while or just hasn’t at all, I would say “well lets hear from _______” and if they don’t have anything in mind, then I would come back to them at a later time.
Something I like to do before dividing tasks upon group members… Is asking if they have a certain job that they would like to do, and if two people have the same interest, then they can just rock paper scissors to decide who gets the role.
If I notice that my group needs help, we can try spending two-three minutes trying to figure out the problem and if we can’t, then I would call over a peer tutor or teacher. This strategy allows our group to think for ourselves and in doing so, possibly figuring the issue.
Ways I like to show gratitude towards others ideas are… saying thank you that was a great idea, and or making sure I let everyone else have an opportunity to share their ideas
My goal
One of my ongoing goals if self respect and respecting others, something I notice about myself is that I’m not the nicest person that I can be. And I think that I do really need to work on this attribute about my self, while working in the group I felt I may have shut down ideas which was rude of my to do. And working on this will allow me to open more doors to people who may not want to associate with a rude or mean person. Something I can do to improve this is to listen more and try to be nicer to more people I meet.
Being safe on the internet is something we should all do and practice, so here are three things that you can do to keep others and yourself safe.
Personal info, When it comes down to your personal info you shouldn’t ever share those passwords, whether it be banking, social media, or house address. These things should never shared on the internet because it could lead to identity theft or worse.
Links, Do any of us check the links we click on before actually clicking? no? Well today you should start, in this day and age scamming is a very prevalent and dangerous thing because it could lead to black-mail and other things. A way that a person can get all your sensitive info is by links, they are called grabify links or IP loggers, and they are disguised as a different things like a YouTube, or Pintrist link. If you were to click on one of these the person could go to the website and see your IP address what city and country you live in and possibly you home address, and after that they can and probably will black-mail you into giving them money while threating to leak the said sensitive information. So before you click on any links make sure you check the URL, if it seems to short, it drag it into an open tab and see if it expands. You can also hold your mouse over top of the link to see what it says because it can be camouflaged.
Secure Networks, Using safe networks is always a good place to start when using surfing the web, because this can prevent from critical information from being leaked or hacked. Because believe it or not from using WIFI in a coffee shop some peoples information has been taken without them even knowing, here are some examples if what a hacker can see and find out about you on public WIFI. The sites you have visited are visible, the data from the unencrypted sites, your IP address and the sites IP addresses that you visited, and the applications you use for online activities.
Being unsafe on the Interenet
Doxing on the Internet is very illegal, this is because Doxing is actually posting someone’s personal information on the web without their consent. This also goes for any addresses of any kind or persons, because this can lead to identity theft.
Swatting, is when someone calls a “prank” call on the police stating somebody’s address to bring a large amount of armed officers to swat the house or apartment, this is VERY illegal and dangerous because the person that is getting swatted may do or say something wrong and get hurt in the process.
Sending illicit photos on the internet is not illegal (If consented I think) but if you send these the person receiving can do almost anything they want with said photos, they can download and post them online or send them to other people.

My strengths as a digital citizen include reporting harmful or false information. This contributes to my community because it can prevent the people from looking and learning false or hurtful information.
My choices on the internet have consequences, so before I post anything, comment I think about how this could affect the person or me in the future.
Some of my goals as a digital citizen, is to get outside of the house more and not spend so much time on the internet. Ways I can complete this goal is by reducing my screen time by 2-5 minutes every week until I’m down to a time where I, and my parents think it’s an acceptable amount of screen time.
