What did you learn about risks and contracts today?
I learned how contracts can protect you from many things such as financial dangers and lawsuits. How we face many risks in our everyday life, whether physical, emotional, or financial. Contracts are an agreement and have many different rules and regulations from each other.
What core competencies did you demonstrate today?
I used all core competencies while working with my group. We communicated on what was a good agreement on our contract and had organized disagreements with mature conversations. I used critical thinking skills on what to write down and come up with new ideas. lastly, personal and social came into play during the whole activity. While we were communicating within our own group and sharing our ideas with another group in an open and respectful manner.
A family is wanting to come up with a weekly meal plan, that will have everyone cooking throughout the week and it works with everyone’s weekly activities. They want to make a plan that involves when dinner will be, what will be cooked, how much to make and who is cooking.
Solution
Justification
Monday: I choose this recipe because its different yet is capable of meeting everyone’s tastes buds. The overall cook time is one hour, so I decided to choose Teen 1 and 2 to cook. They both get home first and will start cooking it around 4:30 when Parent A gets home. When Parent B gets home dinner will be on the table and ready to go, so they can get to their fitness class on time for 7pm. Also, they will have enough left over for both teens to have one serving for lunch tomorrow.
Tuesday: I picked this recipe because it works with everybody’s schedule. It’s a recipe that is cooked in 20 minutes. Which means when Parent B gets home at 5:30 they can cook it 10 minutes after they get home with the normal portion size, and it’ll be done by 6:00. Then Parent A can eat it right when they get home, and teen 2 can get to soccer practice by 6:30.
Wednesdayand Thursday: I chose this recipe because there can be leftovers, and it’s is a larger meal. Everyone can eat as a family. On Thursday as the left overs day, if someone in the family is hungry once they get home they can eat right away since the dish will be pre made for the night before. They would just need to heat it up.
Friday: I chose this recipe because, Friday is a day that the dinner can take longer, and this recipe does. Also, parent A and Parent B will get two portions.
How we shared ideas and information: We had many conversations about what needed to be done, new ideas, and information about what we have done, while working in class. We also had a shared word document to type and put all our work in one places thats accessible to all. Lastly we started an email thread in outlook just in case we needed to commuinicate outside of the classroom.
How we used Technology: The technology was used by all the group members. We used technology to see the word document. We all did one food dish, got the ingredients and recipes from the examples. We added why each of us chose that meal, who cooks the meals and when each meal is eaten in the day. We had a email thread to use in case we needed to connect outside of school, if anyone needed help.
How tasks were distributed: First, we gave everyone a day, they needed to choose what meal who, was cooking and justify their reasoning, since there was one too many days per people in our group, we took the idea from the day 1 questions of using the use of leftovers for Thursday, and just assigned Thursday to whoever was doing Wednesday. Next, we separated all the additional tasks. Alyssia took on our table/chart, Triniti wrote the problem in her own words (with our opinions and thoughts), Sahana wrote about how technology was used in our project, and I am writing how we distributed tasks. Overall, the whole group was very understanding, and everyone was willing take something on and have an organized and collaborative discussion.
Tasks I Completed: I was assigned to everything on Monday(including the justification), I also found the new recipe. Alongside I needed to write about how the tasks were distributed.
Hi my Lochlan (he/him), I’m in grade 9 and 14 years old. I live at home with my mom, dad, and younger brother. I swim and dance competitively, I’ve been swimming for seven years and dancing for six. Three words I view myself as are, leader, understanding, and inclusive. Something I’ve sanded for is inclusivity, hence why I’ve put my pro-nouns up top. Society and school feels very exclusive to me so I try my best to be understanding to new things. My biggest weakness is probably my confidence. I have a really hard time being proud of things I like and how I act. my interests follow as, music, parties, and traveling. Ways I enjoy showing my learning is through digital posters, I use my iPad to make digital posters full of images and text that relate to the content I am learning.
I use this website almost every day. YouTube is a go to for me, it can be used to learn something new, help with school, or if your just looking for laugh.
My Video
This video has so much inspiration for me. Even though I don’t play violin, it one hundred percent is my favourite instrument. Since I was little I’ve been amazed by the sound of strings, especially quartets. I know that playing the violin is not close in my future, But hopefully when Im older and have nothing better to do, I will also play this song.
My Inspiration
This is my favourite music artist Ariana Grande. I have been a fan since her second album came out in 2015 “My Everything”. My favourite songs by her are, “motive”, “break up with your girlfriend, im bored”, and “God is a woman”. I choose this photo specifically because of what was happening. This was during her Sweetner World Tour, while she was performing “thank u next” the whole number was dedicated to pride and being you. (hence the pride flag) It brings me joy seeing my biggest idol showing something so important and using her HUGE platform to spread such an important topic.
My Favourite Quote
“Always be good to people, because being good to people leaves a great legacy behind.”
