Nail Salon Linear Equation

A nail salon charges a flat rate per new set of nails. Plus an additional cost per design, they charge $86 for a set with 2 extra designs, its $99 for a set with 3 extra designs.

A) Write a linear equation in function notation to represent this scenario.

B) If my set ended up costing 125.00, how many extra designs did I get?

Self Assessment Section:

Creative Thinking – I love getting my nails done and love getting designs done. I chose this picture because its a picture of my friends nails when we got them done, I love the gems and the shade of green. The gems was a extra design that she got.

Critical Thinking – My information is the rough amount I pay for a acrylic set. I made sure my calculations were the same to what my salon charges me. To get a deeper French tip that is harder to do, making it a extra 10-15 dollars, which is a extra design. For my current set I have a glitter line on each nail which cost me a extra 10-15 dollars. I made sure my calculations would work by making sure each extra design would be worth the same value.

Core Competency

I was taught how to do a miter joint, for my jewelry box. I had the option to do finger joints, or the miter joints. I picked the finger joints because I have has problems in the past with the finger joints. When gluing in the wood for the miter joints, I had a small bit of chipping on one but its barley noticeable. I had to measure where I wanted each miter joint and line it up perfect so the measurements were the same. Because of the small chipping in the future when hammering in the wood for the miter joints, I will take more time and make sure I have the block over it. This way no chipping will occur.

I can show if I like something or not (critical thinking)

I can sustain a healthy and balanced lifestyle (personal awareness and responsibility)

I can ask and respond to simple, direct questions (communication)
