Communication

Fetal Pig Dissection – Digestive System Unit.
For our Digestive System unit, we were given the opportunity to work on a fetal pig and analyze it’s digestive system. However, I had never done a dissection before so I was a bit nervous as to what to expect. Because of this, I worked hard to communicate with my partners and Mrs. Chew so that I could succeed in this lab. Also, since I had two partners, I tried to make sure everyone was included and that everyone had an equal chance to work on the dissection. We all took turns dissecting, assisting and writing things down. I think that because of my communication and collaboration skills I was successful. I think I can improve on my communication skills by asking my teachers more questions if I need extra assistance.
Personal Responsibility

A page from my study guide – DNA and Protein Synthesis Unit.
I think that I showed a lot of personal responsibility when working on the DNA and Protein Synthesis unit. At first, I was really struggling because there was a lot of steps and definitions to remember. However, I decided that I really wanted to do good on this unit. So, I took personal responsibility by attending Mrs. Chew’s flex everyday for extra help. I also spent time after school studying, making a study guide and taking practice tests. In addition, I read a lot of the textbook so that I could fully understand this unit. In the end, I feel that I have a really firm grasp on this unit and I am really pleased with my grade for that test. Nevertheless, there is always room for improvement and I can do so by continuing to attend flex and using all of the resources I have to be successful.
