English First Peoples 11 Reflection

My Artifact: Storytelling Concept Map

Curricular Competencies Reflection

Comprehend & Connect: In this assignment I was able to learn how to connect the stories I have read to one another. I was able to analyze different stories to each other and compare and contrast their messages and characters. This will help me see stories differently and in a new perspective furthering my understanding of Indigenous knowledge.

Core Competencies Reflection

Thinking CC: I was able to use evidence to make judgements or decisions as demonstrated in this project. From the evidence gathered I made the decision on how to connect points that may have looked different into making a variety of sources connect to one point. Looking at different stories helped me learn new information that might have been missed in the other stories. I would improve my points by connecting and analyzing deeper instead of surface level points.

Core Competency Self-Assessment

Collaborating – I can work with others to achieve a goal

Lab 6B required teamwork to get the results as efficiently as possible. My partner and I communicated well when getting materials, measuring chemicals, and mixing them together. The picture clearly demonstrates our collaboration as the precipitate reacted and started to form the salt that we needed for the assignment.

Law 12 Core Competency Edublog Reflection

How did the reality of the courtroom compare to your expectations?

Going into the field trip I knew that the courtroom experience was not going to be the same as something from a show or game. However, when going into it and sitting in it was different from what i imagined. It was very procedural and everyone in that courtroom understood and completed their jobs fully. The Crown Prosecutor unstood the material they were saying, the judge took note of the charges and the sheriff assisted when needed. Overall the experince of a real courtroom was vastly different from my expectations.

I can gather and combine new evidence with what I already know to develop reasoned conclusions, judgments, or plans

From my past experience and things that I learned from this class so far I could almost follow with the court prcedures. I was able to look back on my past knowledge to develop conclusions on how the matter in the courtroom was going to resolve. My learning and experiences helped me on the courthouse field trip.

Spanish 10 Core Competency Reflection

Core Competency – Communication

My Artifact for Spanish 10 is my Spanish Unit 5 Conversation. I can show a sense of accomplishment and joy. I take pride in my work and myself. My Spanish Conversation reflects the work I put into making it. I can persevere with challenging tasks and take ownership of my goals, learning and behaviour. Spanish is sometimes hard to put into a conversation and make it flow. I can advocate for myself. The making of the conversation forced me to trust in my own strength and to work with them.

Core Competency Self-Assessment

Collaboration

When I was doing my lab I demonstrated the collaboration core competency. Me and my partner worked together to efficiently and carefully finish the lab. While in the lab we took turns and discussed the results. We compared work and checked the pH scale. We organized and made sure we properly disposed the contents of the lab. I intend to keep working and communicating with my peers when doing labs.

Thinking

When finishing the Acids and Bases lab I used the Thinking Core Competency. I had to critically think about whether or not the solution is an acid or base. I used tools such as the pH scale to determine the answer. I compared the results I found in the lab to the colours on the pH scale. Having the ability to think critically can help me when doing my assignments. I intend on working on it in the future.

My Identity – Scaling Project

Part One

Being a Jehovah’s Witness is 50% of my identity. All of my values and morals are based on my religion. The person I have become to be is because of me being a Jehovah’s Witness. The other points have been equally split into four. I took 50% and divided it by four, resulting in each point being 12.5%.

Part Two

This shape is different than the shape in part one. The body has areas where it’s bigger than others. For example, the arm extends making it longer than the torso.

I was able to calculate my identities accurately by split half of it into four equal parts.

Circles and rectangles are the easiest for splitting up. They are the easiest because it can be split into equal parts.

Reflecting on My First Year

My Grade 9 Year

In my grade 9 year I learned a lot. The first day of school was different. It was a new environment with new people. My Favourite Quote

“Life is like a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” – Albert Einstein.

I chose this quote because it applied to my first high school year. Even though I was in completely new circumstances and conditions I kept moving. I was able to maintain balance in life by overcoming obstacles and keep moving.

The strength of a GIC is that it will consistently give you money when you invest. The weakness is that you will not be able to take out your money until the term ends.
