Core Competency Self-Assessment

Collaborating – I can work with others to achieve a goal

Lab 6B required teamwork to get the results as efficiently as possible. My partner and I communicated well when getting materials, measuring chemicals, and mixing them together. The picture clearly demonstrates our collaboration as the precipitate reacted and started to form the salt that we needed for the assignment.

My Identity – Scaling Project

Part One

Being a Jehovah’s Witness is 50% of my identity. All of my values and morals are based on my religion. The person I have become to be is because of me being a Jehovah’s Witness. The other points have been equally split into four. I took 50% and divided it by four, resulting in each point being 12.5%.

Part Two

This shape is different than the shape in part one. The body has areas where it’s bigger than others. For example, the arm extends making it longer than the torso.

I was able to calculate my identities accurately by split half of it into four equal parts.

Circles and rectangles are the easiest for splitting up. They are the easiest because it can be split into equal parts.

Advertisement Persuasion Project

My Advertisement

Persuasion and Advertisement techniques

Persuasion and Advertisement Unit Reflection

Considering all of the examples of ads you saw and the one you created, what did you learn about who benefits from advertisement?

I learned that many people can benefit from ads. For example, models can gain exposure from being in an ad. The producers who made the advertisement can gain revenue and fame from making the ads. The company that made the product will also gain more consumers that would buy their products and build their company.

Why is the who important to remember when you view an advertisement?

It’s important to remember who because even though you might feel like you might be benefiting from the product, the company is the one benefiting from someone buying their product. The company gets a consumer and that consumer adds to their fame and revenue.

Discuss the effectiveness (or not) of each form of persuasion: logical, ethical and emotional on an audience (and on you).

The logical side of the ad is quite lacking. This ad focuses more on the ethical and emotional aspect. Famous people like Ice Spice and Obama endorse this product. The ad telling you to by a tech fleece draws you in emotionally

Choose 3 advertising techniques and explain why they are effective in advertisement.

Bandwagon is a technique used in this advertisement. To “Be like them. Buy a tech fleece” is drawing the consumer to buy it and buy like them. The second is testimonial. The words of a famous person like Ice Spice can condition someone to buy this product. The third is emotional words. The words “Mind-blowingly comfy” can entice someone to buy it because of the texture or feel of the product.

Add a conclusion sentence (Therefore or Overall, this is what I learned about advertisement)

Therefore, after making this advertisement I learned how to properly persuade someone into buy a product.

My Digital Footprint: Keeping Myself Safe

Creating a Positive and Safe Digital Enviroment

Online Safety

The internet has a plethora of information. It can help us connect with others or can help us find answers to our questions, but it can also be dangerous. To be safe on the internet we need to know how to stay safe. How can we do that and what does it mean to be safe online?

An important reason why we need to be online safe is because we want to avoid someone stealing our personal data. The number of cyber-attacks is increasing every day and we don’t want to be victims of these attacks.

If we fail to keep our personal information safe there can be many risks. For example, if you were to post something personal publicly online, people you don’t know might use that to track you down or steal your information. Also, you should never click on a link you are unsure of, especially if it’s from someone you don’t in real life.

There are many ways to be safe online. For example, to keep your information safe online you need to have a strong and protected password. Make sure it is something you can remember as well. You should also have different passwords for all your accounts. You also should change your passwords regularly and never share them to anybody.

The internet can be a place to explore many things but to do that we need to be safe. We need to be safe because our personal information can be stolen. We need to keep our passwords strong and to change it regularly. If we do some of these things, we have a higher chance to be safe.

Personal/Social Competency Reflection

Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced online presence include posting posts that don’t have anything that makes me bad.

Some of the ways I work to build and maintain online relationships are keeping those ones up to date o. the things I do but not to share too much information.

By doing positive things and saying encouraging messages online, I make a positive difference to my peers.
