1.6 Irrational Numbers

I know, we’ve done a lot of rational and irrational work in this chapter – last one, I promise.

In this section, we’ll be simplifying square roots and cube roots, as well as changing forms from mixed roots to entire roots.

Confused? Here are some things that you need to know:

  • How to simplify square roots using the product rule: √A*B = √A * √B
  • How to simplify cube roots using the product rule: ∛A*B = ∛A * ∛B
  • A mixed root is: an expression such as 2√7 or 9√3
  • An entire root is: an expression such as √28 or √40
