Curricular Reflection

describe career-life goals, personal growth and initial planning for preferred career-life pathway.

After taking this course and completing this project I now know much more about my career path than I did before. My career life goal is to become a firefighter and have a good work/life balance, while being able to support myself financially. before taking this course and completing this project I did not know how to plan for the future or spend/save my money and be financially smart. completing this project has helped me plan ahead for the future and prepare myself for what is to come.

Core Competency Reflection

I can tell what is important to me and I can explain my values…. in my presentation I explained my values and what I think is important to me about firefighting. I explained in detail what I value most about my place of work and job.

I understand how my values shape my choices…. I chose this because I can understand and see how my values shape my choices and decisions. An example of this is my presentation, the presentation was about firefighteing and i included how my values shaped the way I look at the job.

I use strategies to help me find peace and I sustain a healthy and balanced lifestyle…. I chose this because we learnd about this early in the semester and I really understood and continued to learn about myself and how to keep a healthy life balance. I continue to work towards a good balance now and think about how I will maintain that in the future.

I participate in activities that support my well-being and take responsibility for my well-being…. I chose this because it ties into the competency I talked about before, after learning about how to keep my well-being i have practiced and engaged in activities that support this. Examples of this would be listening to music and going to the lacrosse box to help me centre myself and maintain a good balance.

I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way… I chose this statement to work on because I believe I can do a better job of sharing information during class. I plan on forcing myself to speak up during conversation, in hopes of getting better at this skill.

y = x^2

this is a non linear equation. I can tell from the graph because it is not one straight line. I can tell from the equation because… there is an is an exponent higher than 1.

this is a non linear equation. I can tell from the graph because it is not one straight line. I can tell from the equation because… it can be expanded to y=(x+1)^2 the exponent is higher than 1.

linear

y – 3 = 4(x+1)

this is a linear equation. I can tell from the graph because it is one straight line. I can tell from the equation because… there is no exponent higher than 1.

non-linear

x^2 + y^2 =16

this is a non linear equation. I can tell from the graph because it is not one straight line. I can tell from the equation because… both exponents are greater than 1.

The Reading Process

When I first started reading this book it was very challenging. The vocabulary was very new and I had a hard time understanding what they were saying. as the book progressed I started to understand the words the were using. Characters became more familiar to recognize and i could have a better understanding of the book.

Core Competency Reflection

I show others that I truly value their contributions by….. I have group discussions about the book and included many people so I could further my knowledge of the book and let everyone have a chance to speak.

I remain open minded as I explore viable options or alternative approaches, like when I….. read the play Romeo and Juliet, I didn’t know anything about the play or the story, but i kept an open minded whole time, to further my knowledge.

Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in…. group discussions, I gave my opinion and helped other people with understanding the play.

I show others that I truly value their contributions by… i would like to make this my goal because I feel I can do a better job of letting people speak and make them feel like their opinion matters.
