My Learning of CPR

CPR Reflection

The 4 R’s are Risk, Recognizing, Reacting, Resuscitating-these are a set of guidelines that help you in making decisions when someone is unconscious happens. It teaches people to listen to the signs indicating that an individual needs help and determine if action needs to take place in favor of another life.

Core Competency Reflection

Communication Prompt: Examples of where I communicated clearly and purposefully can be seen in…

During the CPR unit, I demonstrated clear and purposeful communication by yelling to my friend to call 911. I also said, “I am checking for hazards,” so my evaluator would know that I was following safety steps. This helped keep the situation well organized and demonstrate my knowledge of the process.

Thinking Prompt: One area of CPR in which I’d like to spend more time learning is…

The area of CPR in which I wish to get my skills better is in the actual proper implementation of chest compression. In class, I was sometimes unsure whether I was going deep enough or going fast enough. I would like to get better so I can actually help when the situation calls for it.

Personal and Social Prompt: Although I am challenged by … I plan to get through these challenges by …

I will try to overcome the challenges I have with not remembering the order of the steps in CPR by practicing more until those steps become second nature to me. I will also utilize some of what we did in class, such as saying the steps out loud, which will help me recall during a real-time emergency.
