Persuasion and Advertisement Techniques
Persuation and Advertisement Unit Reflection
· Why is it important to remember who benefits from the advertisement when you view an advertisement?
It is important to remember who benefits from an advertisement when you view one because the more you watch or pay for the product they are advertising, the more you are supporting their business the company. It is good to consider who you’re supporting and what kind of things you’re getting out of it.
· Choose one form of persuasion and explain why it is effective in persuading you/an audience: logical, ethical, emotional
emotional – Emotional persuation is highly effective because most people’s first thoughts may be based on how they feel about it. For example, an emotionally intelligent person may fall for advertisements that correlate with relatable feelings or if they are a highly empathetic person, they may feel that as well. It evokes someone’s emotions and persuades them to agree with or at least be drawn to the advertisement. It usually contains emotional videos, images, sounds, words, etc.
· Choose an advertising technique and explain why it is effective in selling a product.
Bandwagon advertising : It is effective in selling a product because people have the desire to be apart of a group or “fit in” most of the time. If it is a good product and lots of people have it, more and more would want to be apart of having it. This tecnique also relies heavily on emotions. People have the fear of missing out on something.
Core Competency Reflection
· One of the ways I ensured my group was clear on what we were doing was to plan out things ahead and be together while working on it. Ama and I booked flex and worked on it together, communicating things we need to add or take down. We made sure to check with eachother when we add something new.
· Some things I thought about when dividing tasks among my group members was to make sure we can get things done in time and choose what we’re good at. Ama is good with quick ideas, so she made most of the advertisement and thought of the photos to go along with it. I’m more of a writer so I wrote things down for our powerpoint slides and edited sentences if needed.
· When my group was not productive, we locked in, in order to get things moving in the right direction. Sometimes we get distracted a lot, so we help remind eachother to finish it and tried to have fun as we do it.
