Junior Jazz Final Concert Reflection

What about the last concert/performance are you proud of? Why are you proud of this?

I am proud of my solo in Theme from Spider-Man. I am proud of this because I was able to play through the whole solo without getting too nervous and messing it up. We got the piece quite recently and I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to play through the solo but I managed to play it all the way.

If you could change or fix one thing about your performance what would it be? What would you improve?

If I could fix one thing I would probably triple-check my tuning to make sure I wasn’t off on the very high notes in some of the songs. I would also make sure to watch Mr. Byrd more to ensure I wasn’t falling off tempo. I would improve my watching.

Please write a few sentences to describe your performance at our concert.

My performance at this concert was good. I watched dynamics and played the correct intonation of notes. I think my performance was pretty good.

In a few sentences, please describe how this past year has gone for you in band. How have you improved on your instrument and what would you like to improve on?

This past year has gone very well for me in Jr. Jazz. I have improved so much on bass. When I came to band in September I could hardly sight-read. Our first piece All of Me, was a huge struggle to play until I memorized it. I can now read music and associate notes with fingerings much better. I also learned a lot about music theory and I can now write my own basslines (to an extent). I want to improve on the theory part.
