Persuasion Project Advertisement Techniques

Persuasion Project Unit Reflection

It is important to remember who benefits from an advertisement because we need to know what the money is going toward and if the people who are benefited from the ad are trusted. If the company is using the money for a bad cause, and produces their products in bad ways such as child labor, supporting that company isn’t a good decision. On the other hand, if the company produces their products in a way that doesn’t harm anyone and is using their earnings for a good cause, then supporting them would be a good idea.

Logical persuasion is the technique that convinces me to buy products the most. When the ad provides reasons why the product is good, then it helps convince me that the product will be worth it. The logic helps me understand why I should buy that product and why it is an actual effective and useful product.

Core Competency Reflection

One strategy that helped stimulate my imagination for this project was looking at other advertisements, including advertisements for other products. Before creating my own ad, I had searched up ads, so I could get ideas on how I should design my ad and what I should write to persuade people to buy my product. It helped stimulate my imagination by giving me a base idea of what should be on my advertisement, and how other companies design their arvertisements.

How I selected images and words to create impact for my audience is by paying attention during the explanation of the project and looking over the advertisement glossary and the powerpoint. This helped me select what I should write on my advertisement to convince people to buy my product, and how I could catch peoples eye.

I used to think that advertisements would always be truthful about what celebrities and other people have said about their product. After this project, I had learnt how though they may be truthful, most of the time the company pays the celebrity to say it. They use thd testimonial technique to get people to believe the product is good since a celebrity or trusted person said its good.
