Critical and Reflective Thinking Competency Reflection

The 3 things I take away from the Naloxone presentation

One of the biggest things I learned and surprisingly did not know was we are in a over does crises. We have had 171 in September this year and since 2016 we have had 1500 deaths in BC.I also did not realize how easy it was to get a naloxone kit and how a lot more people should be caring them around since they could save a life. Another thing that the presentation showed me how easy it is to overdoes and how you could overdose without even planning to. From reflecting on the NaloxHome  is anyone can over does even if they have a great family, people to talk with or even have lots of friends. It’s also scary how so many people are overdosing in one month we need to try and educate more people to help the situation.

social studies

my favourite project I did was with Nasim and we did a big Hanukkah board that will teach people about the culture. I enjoyed this project since it has some hands on and crafty parts to it. this assiment showcased how I developed my writing and coming up with ideas yo show my creativity. the project taught me a lot about how Hanukkah is celebrated and how important it is in many cultures. I could continue to wok on that project since I feel I could still have done more research and gone farther on the project. I also really enjoyed all the art work I made I think overall it turned out really good and I am proud of it.

Innovation station

Reflection:

a)Yes, I was able to identify the problem with ease. I was able to find the problems and solutions by doing research online.

b) No I didn’t use backwards design. I started with the original invention and worked through the problems and solutions up to today. Yes, I thought about the future.

c) Yes, my design was satisfying. I took a design that was already made and made have more focus on the photo than the machine taking it.

d) In the future, I would try to see if I could make my own hologram.

Speech Unit Reflection

While doing my speech, I learned how to be a better researcher. I learned how to do citations. I think that citations are a good way to put your information in, instead of just copying a link.  For making my citations I used the citation machine and the link for that was on the school website intranet page.  The main source that I used for researching my speech was the National Geographic website.  It was full of information about sharks.  It included recent information as well as events that happened in the past. To improve my research skills next time, I could try to use a greater variety of different sources. I could also try looking for information in a book at a library. I could also include quotes from the sources. When I use movies as an example, I could do some more research to explain the movies in a bit more detail.  In conclusion, I think I did a pretty good job of researching.

Cheek cells

Today in science class, we got to learn about human cheek cells. We did this by swabbing or cheek with a toothpick, and then putting it down on a microscope slide. The we added blue dye to dye the cells to get a better look at them. When I looked in the microscope I could see each individual skin cell. The 2nd photo I used the medium lens, the 1st photo I used the ultra lens.
