Comparison to your home country

Brazil has multiple holidays like carnival kids day and independence day for them is September 7th. While they do celebrate the holidays we celebrate like Christmas they don’t celebrate it as much as a present under a tree holiday but more of a religious holiday. For landmarks Canada has landmarks such as the CN Tower in Toronto, Niagara falls, and the Great lakes Brazil is home to iconic landmarks like Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro and the Amazon Rainforest. Canada is known for ice hockey and lacrosse, sports that are a big part of Canadas culture, with the National Hockey League (NHL) being a big part of Canada. Brazil is known for there football (soccer) skills, with a passionate fan base of the sport and a history of success in the FIFA World Cup. Canada focuses more on indigenous heritage, emphasizing winter sports, while Brazil has Carnival and vibrant music. Despite differences, both nations have a festive spirit and an appreciation for outdoor activities. Canada has a diverse music scene, from rock with artists like Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell to rap and hip hop with artists like drake the weeknd and Shawn Mendes. The country also has a great arts scene, with places like the National Gallery of Canada. Brazil is known for its samba and bossa nova music, with artists like Antonio Carlos Jobin and João Gilberto. Brazilian art is often characterized by colorful and expressive forms, with figures that stand out like Candido Portinari.

Core Competency Reflection

I can show sense of accomplishment and joy. I take pride in my work and myself. I chose this core competency because I put pride into my work doing my best with this assignment and I was extremely joyful after receiving my mark. I work with others to achieve a goal. I chose this because me and Jimin both wanted the same goal and to get a good mark so we worked together and created a good project together. I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear and organized way. I chose this core competency because I know a lot about brazil while Jimin doesn’t so I shared a lot of information about brazil and various things about the country with him. I can represent my learning and tell how it connects to my experiences. I chose this core competency because I have been to brazil multiple times in this project I was able to answer off my head and based off my experiences being there and can create connections. I can persevere over time to develop my ideas, and I expect setbacks and failure, but use that to develop my ideas. I need to work on this core competency because when I have a issue or get stuck on something I usually just procrastinate to fixing it or sometimes I even give up. But I realize that, that is a very bad habit and I need to learn how to learn off of my mistakes. I will achieve this by doing my homework sooner and when I get stuck on something I will keep working on it till I completed it or I studied over everything and am prepared for what is next.
