Maintaining a Positive Digital Footprint
In today’s digital age, it’s crucial to understand the significance of maintaining a positive digital footprint and practicing internet safety. Your online presence can impact your relationships, education, and future career prospects. This poster aims to educate and provide guidance on the importance of online safety and positivity.
Why Internet Safety and Positivity Matter?
- A positive digital footprint can enhance your reputation, making you more appealing to potential employers or educational institutions.
- Internet safety helps protect your personal information and guards against cyberbullying, scams, and online harassment.
Examples of Unsafe and Negative Activities:
- Cyberbullying: Harassing or intimidating others online can have severe consequences for both the victim and the perpetrator.
- Sharing Inappropriate Content: Posting offensive or explicit material can damage your reputation and affect your future opportunities.
- Oversharing Personal Information: Revealing sensitive data like addresses, phone numbers, or financial details can lead to identity theft and privacy breaches.
Steps to Maintain a Positive Digital Footprint:
- Think Before You Post: Consider the potential consequences of your online actions, comments, and posts.
- Use Privacy Settings: Adjust your privacy settings on social media and other platforms to control who can access your content.
- Be Kind and Respectful: Treat others online with the same respect and kindness you would in face-to-face interactions.
- Protect Personal Information: Avoid sharing sensitive personal information like your full name, address, or financial details online.
- Report Abuse: If you encounter harmful or inappropriate behavior online, report it to platform administrators or authorities.
By following these steps, you can have a positive digital footprint that benefits your life.

Personal/Social Competency Reflection
Some of the ways I work to build and maintain online relationships are to always stay positive and not be rude on the internet.
I think my experiences as a digital citizen, such as watching my ipad when I was younger and playing video games now influenced my choice of course/hobbies/ teams because the games I played always related to something I was doing in real life so I would often try new things after playing a video game on it.
Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced online presence include always being kind and positive and not letting online things like video games and social media take over my life.
